Texas was my vote, but no one is considering temperature and terrain, texas is open on 4 sides and very flat non rugged terrain, they could take a 4 pronged attack and that would suck. florida on the other hand could let go of the pan handle and just defend the peninsula, it woud suck to get in (everglades and swampland is tough to negotiate)..also colorado would suck to go into cuz of impossible terrain. some other factors, but in the end i think texas wins!!!

Its hard to defend a large land mass, but its even harder to maintain control of one after taking it. Unless you just slaughter everyone that is.
