Today, one day before next year’s open enrollment period launches, we have one new piece of information. And it's good.

It’s a poll, from the Gallup Corporation, of people who bought insurance on the new marketplaces last year. Gallup asked, how would you rate the quality of your insurance coverage? More than 70 percent rated it as “good” or “excellent.” The numbers were largely consistent with what all people who have insurance replied.

And, I am not sure how allergic some of you are to NewRepublic.com,.. so, here is the Washington Post; http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2014/11/14/some-badly-needed-good-news-for-obamacare/
the number of Americans the Affordable Care Act has allowed to obtain ... well ... affordable care, and just how happy people are with it.

,... wait,.. that still sounds too 'upbeat',..

Hold on, how about a Newsmax link??

Meanwhile, speculation is mounting about how Obamacare's website, HealthCare.gov, will perform when it opens for business on Saturday following a year of work by technology specialists after its disastrous rollout.

There! That should satisfy some of you good old boys; good news,.. but, a hur dur dur,.. shitty news!!

Obamacare mandated quality policies. It's hard to see how it would poll any differently. The odd thing to me is that the HI purchased off the exchange polled the same for all other policies, some of which are nonconforming HI plans. I would have expected Obamacare policies to poll better as far as quality ect.

In any case it's too early to tell. Additionally, some aspects of Obamacare that concern people, such as potential reimbursement to HI companies, won't show up in such polls (it's also too early as well).

Such a poll also excludes everyone for whom Obamacare coverage was too expensive and they are now uninsured.

Some are laboring mightily to convince us that Obamacare is good. Let's wait until real info is developed.

What percentage of Obamacare buyers are subsidized? What percentage were previously not covered and had serious preexisting conditions? I imagine that most of those are quite happy.

Well people are happy with their Health.care policies because they know Obamacare is bad but not that they are one and the same.

How many policies are nonconforming in ways that affect overall satisfaction?

You must be talking about people in Red States that didn't take the Medicaid expansion, right? They're really the only people for whom healthcare insurance is unaffordable. It was unaffordable for them before the ACA, as well.

Some are laboring mightily to convince us that Obamacare is good. Let's wait until real info is developed.

Then why have Repubs tried to kill it every inch of the way? I don't think they're interested in any more real info than they already have, given that it's not what they want it to be.

That's an interesting spin. Lets put a little perspective behind this. Before the ACA we had by conservative estimates 40 million uninsured. One year after two of the major hurdles for getting insurance were removed (pre-existing conditions and cost reductions through subsidies) and even a fine for non-compliance tacked on we managed to get 4 million or so of them covered, or basically 10%. Looks like a lot of customers weren't happy so they didn't buy it.

Replace "insured" with Governed. Because as soon as Government "insures" you, they can Govern you. They can tell you when, why, and how, to do anything.

They enforce it with the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines (and Coast Guard.)

We are so fucked.

The only people that are happy with Obama Care are the free-loaders, that get yet more services free.

Not really. What it looks like is that further Medicaid expansion would do a lot of people a lot of good.

There are no winners here.

We are 17 Trillion Dollars in debt.
We have a Government that shoots people with Tasers.
Washington, DC is full of Millionaires.

This isn't winning.

Less Government, Less Regulation, and we can start to think about winning.

Less taxes, less waste, less corruption, less socialism.

Are you drunk? No judgments; I'm a big fan of drinking. But there's really no need to post a bunch of replies in a row to yourself. Compose your thoughts in a single post before you reply; it makes things better for everyone.

And to your point; the government exists to serve the people, so it really shouldn't be surprising that "48% of the people" are getting benefits from the government. That works to the benefit of the ruling class. If the French Revolution taught us nothing else, it's that you give the masses just enough so they aren't chopping off heads in the streets and the rich can be free to live a life of ultimate luxury and keep everyone else fighting amongst each other with utter nonsense like "48% of the freeloaders are stealing your taxes."

A balanced budget.

Personal Responsibility with a Security Net.

Stop inflaming prices, so a person can live on a reasonable wage.

etc.

Our Government, exists to get out of the way of the people.

Yes, not anymore, but originally.

So, whatever, I've made my point. It's a lost cause, and the happy people are the free-loaders.

<= Not happy.

-John

We're not happy either. 8 of the last 9 posts are yours, and many are not even on topic. This constitutes thread crapping. You have a habit of this, often late at night. It must stop. You being drunk would, sadly, be the kindest explanation.

If that's what people want to push, then push that. I sure as hell don't remember hearing many people saying the ACA isn't going to work without massive Medicaid expansions when this was getting sold to the American people.

I'd say far more people are laboring mightily to convince us that Obamacare is the devil, and I'd say they have been less facts to base their arguments on.
