If I buy prescribed medication on my parents insurance, do they see it?

I am a college student and have both my parents health insurance and the mandatory student health insurance. I am almost positive my parents health insurance has better co-pays on medication. If I am presribed medication, does it show up on their bill or statement? Is there a list of medications bought under their plan? Does it indicate that I have had something prescribed, even if it doesn't say what?

Haha, not valtrex thank god. I know the pharmacy must file claims for reimbersment, but aren't there also pantient confidentiality laws (especially since I'm over 18)?

I doubt there's any confidentiality law if you're using their insurance.

ok, i did some research and most insurance companies wont disclose informatin unless requested by the primary care holder, which means if your parents dont notice and dont care you are cool

yes, if they wanted to, they can see the records. this has arisen in cases where spouses have been snooping on one another

HybridSquirrel, mind sharing those resources? I'm sure they have they have the right to know IF the plan is being used, but i would guess that if they wanted to know the exact prescription they would need some sort of consent, especially considering the harsher confidentiality laws passed in recent years.

my resources were my mom, my insurance agent, and my school health care provider. so it wasnt like online research

basically your parents can check if they really wanted too, but most parents wont

I've had a bunch of different health insurance companies over the years. Scripts have never shown up on any of the paperwork I've been given.

don't get caught. i know a kid who is still in jail (arrested in 2004) for trying to make a few hundred bucks... got ratted out by a "friend" who wanted to plea down an "intent to sell" felony to a "posession" misdemeanor... the kid got fscked over... needless to say the rat got fscked up.

kids do that at my school too, i kinda figured its why but yeah its illegal,

Yep. Graduated in Engineering and had started Grad School. I have no fscking clue what adderall is...

Well, my college is not that hard, and i'm not stupid enough to need it or think about selling it.

How about this, I can guarantee you your mandatory health insurance isn't mandatory if you have you're own plan, aka being under your parent's plan.

My only insurance bill is the deduction on my paycheck stub. Insurance coverage is paid for monthly in advance and charges and copay are paid for at the doctor or pharmacy. There is no itemized statement or bill in most cases.
