768k downstream gets saturated with a single YouTube video. Assuming a lot of your tabs are graphics heavy your downstream could easily be the bottleneck in your browsing (at least when you're first opening your browser and reloading all your tabs).
No, I'm at 2.7 mbps, or supposedly, haven't done a test lately, but I think it's in that neighborhood. I don't know if it's worth it based on what people are saying in this thread to "double" that download speed. Even for a measly 5 bucks/month. I'm not employed right now, and am trying to be frugal (as usual). I know a lot of tricks for saving money, and throwing it away doesn't qualify.
