If i google i see no sales of APU based laptops or notebooks

One would think that a APU based laptop would lower cost since there is only one simple heatsink needed and the layout of the pcb would be less complicated. BUt i just did for the fun a google on APU laptops and although i see a lot of AMD pages presenting laptop and notebook ready apu's, the first advertisement that i see is actually about a laptop selling a i7 derivate.

Why is this ? Are all produced apu's going to game machines ?

AMD hurts itself with this situation IMHO. I myself have a (richland not kaveri ) A10-6700 + A75 based desktop and it has always been very responsive. And now that i can enjoy the luxury of an SSD it is quicker than ever. A laptop with a similar specification would be very sufficient for many people. I am not planning to buy one. I just find it peculiar.

I think there are a fair number of cat core laptops. Technically those are APUs as well. As for the big core ones, it seems like they would be a good solution. However, they still are in the grey area of having a better gpu than intel, but not really strong enough for a robust gaming platform, as well as relatively mediocre cpu performance. I would love to buy an A-10 Kaveri laptop for my grandson for a gaming laptop for his HS graduation, but the performance is still just too limited.

This is out of AMD's hands. OEM's are going to build laptops that sell. AMD laptops don't sell very well, therefore OEM's aren't going to invest in building them.

EDIT: That is weird, i searched for the model shown on your amazon page and i got redirected by lenovo to this model with an i5.

The first APU laptop i see has a low resolution screen and only 4GB.

Are there no apu laptops with 1080 screens and 8GB of memory for a similar price as i5 models ?

I see what is the problem. Single channel memory. An APU(even a mobile one) is going to be hurt a lot without any bandwidth.

In HP models there s two slots but only one is populated on the regular offering, the second sodimm is an option, notebookcheck did the test in dual channel mode though..

Yes, I did see a lot with 4GB (which is a shame if they are 1x4GB SO-DIMM rather than 2 x 2GB SO-DIMM)

When reading the articles, i noticed that : If an APU wants to shine, HSA is needed. I guess HSA is still waiting for applications. I guess AMD does not have the money to offer to software companies to make special HSA versions to show of the advantages of HSA. A lot of audio and video could benefit from HSA, yes ?
Maybe one day a VLC - HSA version will be available. Which i could not use since i have a richland APU.
