If I remove the battery from my cell phone, do I lose all my phone numbers?

Fine; it's the Stupid Cell Phone Question of the Day.

The memory in a cell phone, is it like flash memory? I.E. not dependent on a constant electrical charge to save settings?

My cell phone will be turned off for a few months and I'd hate to lose all the numbers I've accumulated over the past four years.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll write down all the numbers just in case...of course, I'll probably lose that piece of paper too.

Read the thread; kinda a 50/50 split there. :Q My phone is going to be unplugged for about four months...I was planning taking the battery out, just in case it leaks or somehting.

I lost my nokia 5165 for around 5 months, after the first 2 weeks it was dead (I called it and at that point it didn't even ring, just went straight to voicemail. When we found it again I tried turning it on and got nothing at all, charged it up and had everything, phone #'3 missed calls, made calls. So I guess the best way is to back it up BUT you may get away with it.

Good Luck,

What phone do you have?

The numbers in England are stored on the sim card. Here everyone uses GSM. The phone also stores numbers. It holds without the battery so i guess there must be some sort of battery in the phone for when the battery is dead.....

Huh? That doesn't have anything to do with "The Sims" does it?

I have an older Sprint Touchpoint Dual Band phone...I think Qualcomm makes it; that's what it says on the back.

It's got a big old battery that's about four years old, but assuming I only use about 5 minutes a day talking, it'll do three-foru days on a full charge.

I only know what a sim is because I bought a phone a couple days ago - it's like a little flash card that you can take in and out of the phone and it can hold data.
