Pour kerosene over it for a couple of weeks. Then use a pick and shovel. You could try using a propane torch to soften it up but that might get you in trouble.
I worked high school summers on my dads asphalt company.

You can find out whether its asphalt or concrete/cement fairly simply - Your destruction method depends on figuring that out.

1. Jack up a car on the bump - if the jack dents the speedbump it's asphalt. Concrete has incredibly high compressive strength so it won't budge under the weight of a car.

2. Use a propane torch on a bit of it one night. If it "softens up" it is asphalt. Fire is the easiest way to deal with asphalt. LOTS of fire. After all its terribly sticky dregs of crude oil after refining so it'll melt.

3. Use a Big Freaking Sledge on it. If it dents rather than cracks or chips - its asphalt.

If you happen to have a concrete bump - you'll need to use it's weakness against it. Concrete has very poor tensile strength - So it would be easy to break it by attacking at a right angle, such as a snowplow attack or a golf style sledge hit, vs trying to crush it against more concrete.

Thanks

While there are chemicals that can dissolve asphalt it will be cost prohibitive to do so.
It will be much cheaper to hire a guy to remove it the old fashioned way.

Hmm, the drill and water idea is pretty good if you live somewhere that the water would freeze in a reasonable time, that way you could use a heat gun to speed the process up considerably by thawing and refreezing several times a day.

asphalt is not cement. Which one?

Amd for cement you would need a very strong acid. Easier to break it and then haul away.

Can't break it, too much noise. This must be done discretely. Honestly I'm not sure if it's cement or asphalt...sooo.

 what are you destroying?

around 24 inches of 2 seperate speed bumps.

Who owns the pavement?

No chemical is easily going to destroy it.

Paving compaines use backhoes or jack hammers to remove such items.

Destroying public propery will generate you a bill for repairs and possibly a visit by PD
This is not something that you can do descretely in a couple of hours of weeks.

I co-own it, and I am destroying a chunk big enough for my motorcycle to pass through, cars will still be forced to "BUMP". I dislike how my bike falls onto it as if it were to break in half, and walking over them is just a pain in the ass and gay. It's a pretty fat bump, very unecessary, I would provide pics but stalkers would figure out my location and tuch my special spots.

How fucking old are you? 12?

Yo shut the fuck up Captain Maturity, no one cares about your observations. I'm fuckin cool that's all you need to know.

oh wait I just saw your pic post with your actual age, I guess that's the thing these days, overly mature peons flocking around.

You on the other hand do look 12, protein is the answer to your issues my friend.

Let's see...you "co-own" it...in a HOA controlled subdivision?

That makes it vandalism...

Drilling holes in asphalt and hoping water/freeze will do the trick is nuts. Asphalt has enough elasticity to prevent that from happening...USUALLY. (see frost heaves and such...but that's different)

In cold weather, there's no easy way or quiet way to cut asphalt...the stuff is hard as a rock...

You COULD soften it with a weed-burner torch...and probably set the asphaltic oil on fire while you're at it...or get a concrete saw to cut it...then buy a new blade because the oil ruined it...OR, you could just learn to ride and not worry about the dammed speed bump.
