I have a few questions the first is just a question on supply and demand not a discussion on the price/performance compared to DDR2 . Is is safe to say the more people that buy DDR3 memory the faster the price comes down? Also I wonder if/when NVIDIA and AMD come out with chip sets that support DDR3 it might drive price down too. I have read AMD is not looking to go with DDR3 until 09
2nd - how many purchased DDR2 last year and paid $300 USD or more?
I purchased a kit of DDR2 800 2x1gb of patriot (LLK) for $300+tax at a B&M fry's and then just a few months later watched the price come down. Is that solely due to demand? Or did the introduction of DDR3 help the price come down on DDR2.
3rd - I really did not read into it. What was the performance difference between DDR and DDR2 when DDR2 first came out? Was it as small as the difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is or was it a major leap? When I started getting interested in computers and the components that go into them DDR2 was pretty much mainstream. I did not see the negative backlash (or maybe I missed it) I am seeing with DDR3 when a year ago when the price for good DDR2 was $300 and up.
