If nuclear war were to ever happen what country would probably be the best place to move to?

Around 2012 and 2013 I'll probably move to another country until 2018 passes. If I make it to 2018 and there is no nuclear war I'll probably move back to the US. But if not, then man I'll be glad I moved there.

Another nuclear question. The main reason we'd all probably die is basically when the nuclear bombs land the smoke and dust created would eventually kill off all sunlight coming through which would lead to no trees which would mean no oxygen for us to breathe, correct? It would basically be night for a long, long, long time.

Am I the only one from Anandtech who this kind of freaks me out? I mean there were like ten people who voted that ithey do believe in what will happen.

Just in case anyone cares, I found a link to a forum in which a Dr. actually went ahead and explained a lot of the flaws of Titor. Check it if you want, peace. Text

what is so special about 2018?

And if there is WWIII, then no place will be safe unless you live in that super special country 200mi down.

Australia. They're far enough away to be out of the fallout pattern since it's mostly the northern hemisphere likely to go kaboom. They probably won't get nuked themselves, have lots of good looking girls and plenty of beer. 'Nuff said.

If anything starts happening in '05 is anyone else planning on moving or what?

I mean I would hope you guys would not just sit here and hope and pray that nothing does happen. I'm speaking hypothetically though.

Yes, obviously if in 2004 these waco events take place every month my interst will be peaked. If in 2005 there is a US civil war we'll put our house on the market and excercise our Canadian citizenship for a quick trip back north. Also we'll go REALLY far north. Canada would be a great place to live in a nuclear war because it's very sparsely populated compared to the overall land mass.

Anyway nocturnal see a shrink if you're really worried about that crack pot website. It's a farce, albeit it an interesting one. It's just science fiction.

Russia supposedly starts a nuclear war against us in 2015.

I put 2018 just in case he was off a few years.

Wouldn't you be better off moving in 2012? If you're trying to err on the side of caution, I would advise leaving 3 years earlier than his date, not 3 years later.

i'm pretty sure nobody would want to bomb alabama... i mean, the damage a nuclear bomb could possibly cause there can't justify the cost of the bomb itself. It'd be like bombing antarctica.

Not true - Alabama has at least a couple of very significant military bases, not to mention a big NASA research center. Alabama has some good nuclear targets.

Chernobyl. They know how to deal with it.

BTW if you believe John Titor, you are an idiot. Seems odd to me that everything he refers to is based on our current knowledge and he has ZERO physical hard core proof. First thing I would bring with me in time travel is a few sports alminacs and lottery ticket numbers for proof.

An undergrad degree in psyc is a far cry from a PHd and being a clinical practicioner Really though, why are you so worried about this? I myself have seen in the past at least two occasions in which I was told the world would end and we've surpassed both dates. It just doesn't happen. In the case of this titor fellow we have the luxury of actually disbelieving him and using some of his earlier predictions (2004) to gauge whether the important ones (nuke war) are going to happen. And if it does you have several years to deal with it!
