I read about the whole John Titor thing about 2 years ago. I found it on the internet when conducting a search on time travel, BTW time travel has always interested me. Any how someone on the site tried to prove him wrong by saying he was using a RPS board game created in the eighties to fabricate his story. I thought the guys was a nutcase myself until I read about scientists creating miniature black holes in national news. That was part of John's story he explained how they were able to create singularities from miniature black holes, amplify them and create time travel. After that I became worried and wondered if such a thing was possible. I guess we'll see what happens after 2004 but the fact that he predicted that our rights would slowly be taken away from us - *post 911 events* does not look good.

Andorra. No one even knows where it is, so they can't possibly bomb it. Ask W where it is, he'll have no idea.

in the 80s a panal studied the effects of a nuclear war. it determined that an exchange of as little as 100 warheads would end human civilization. America has 27,000. if you could stick your head up your own ass you would still die.

uh, how old was the guy when he travelled through time? I read the story and think he said he left in 2036 or something, so if he was 40... he's alive right now. I still think the story is a load of crap though.

I can't recall but I know he would be 5 years old right now. He was supposedly born in 1998. I don't care anymore, I'm trying to believe that this craps all made up cuz it probably is.

I'm trying to come up with a money-making scam to pull on you because you don't seem very bright. I'll get back to you shortly.

hermm .. thread seems hijacked. Anyway, I would say tibet or northern part of mongolia is probably the best place not to mention saudi arabi/egypt.

Why not the middle of the desert in Africa? It is a much bigger land space...

I would rather be in the Amazon or the Congo

I gaurantee if there was a Nuclear war with Russia, Omaha Nebraska would NOT be the new capitol after sh!t got straightened out. Omaha would be glowing for decades to come due to the AFB there

Omaha is nearly worthless now. SAC is long gone. The big targets now would be out in New Mexico and Nevada (F-117, B-2).

Personally, I think the safest place to stay ICBM-wise would be the US, now and in the future. An F-14 + Phoenix can take out most opposition bombers from 150+ mi, and an F-15 or F-16 + AMRAAM can down most known cruise missiles with good (~70%) accuracy. Factor in Patriot (system, not law) and we're golden. Twenty years from now, hopefully the ABL will be active and we'll be untouchable. Until someone creates a space-based hypersonic nuclear bomb launcher... In 2022. Go hide now.

:evilgrin;

Africa got AIDS and tons other unknown diseases which I scare. However, Amazon sounds good but I wont go there alone and definitely will be wary of catching fishes there since I can't recognize piranhas.

He said "Unix will have problems in 2038".
Eh, I doubt Unix will be around in 2038. If it is, it will certainly be completely different and I highly doubt there would be anything called Unix anymore. In fact, I doubt we'll still be using von Neumann architectured machines by then.

I hope you weren't honestly worried about this, Noc. After a few minutes of looking at the site my brain filed this away with diamonds in Africa and all that trash.

*edit* When he said: "Hardware and software will get much better" I almost roffled on my waffle... wtf? better? Ok dood, ok. I think Titor's alter ego is Capt. Obvious

You are aware that some systems don't get replaced often as long as they are still functional? Especially if there is a war in between in which a lot of hardware is destroyed the tougher pieces will just be left running.

That said, I think it is a hoax too. No proof whatsoever, he sounds like someone like me: Reading/absorbing loads of information on many subjects, and speculating on them. Yes, I've also thought about using black holes as power generators, as well as how to confine antimatter so you can store it for propulsion and stuff like that. But I've also long ago figured out that this would need such huge amounts of energy to start with, and would need a 100% failsafe system, that it would not be possible for ages to come. Imagine something going wrong in a system confining a black hole or antimatter... Not much left to scrape up after that. Not to mention the amount of energy needed to keep it in that state.

(I'm ignoring the rest of the "Will there be war?" and "What'll be busted if there is war?" posts.)
