Only Female I can think of that could win in '08 is Clinton... Don't see Obama being able to get the swing states...
Remember it is ALL about 8 states... the rest will follow their patterns... this ain't Reagan running.. No VP to carry the 'torch'... nope it is back to square one...

So the real question is (IMO) who can move the voters in the States the Donkey Needs... otherwise it will be who ever the Elephant select... Donkey must do the moving...

I like Jeb, he is everything his brother is not

John, usually I just deal with the facts and issues of your posts, but for this one:

What drugs are you on, and where did you get such huge quantities?

My reputation of Jeb has been tarnished by his undertaking in the Schavio case calling for government involvement.
If he was running regardless of name change or not, I'd vote against him.

I would vote for a dog catcher over any of the likely choices, Republican of Democrat.

A rat would be better than Bush.

Newt is VERY popular on the right, but he has weaknesses and would be better for his presence in the race as he will help to define issues, I could see him in a cabinet position. No one can deny his ability as a speaker and he ability to "frame" issues.
Mitt Romney seems to pop up a lot in conservative circles as well, could be a good candidate, governor, will place the North East into play, not sure if he is popular enough to win Mass though... Imagine a Giuliani/Romney ticket, would give the Dems huge fits having to defend New York and Mass... hmmmm need to send an e-mail to uncle Karl

They'd take McCain and not be 100% happy about it. I still think the real candidate will be someone we may not yet have thought of. Romney is certainly a possibility, but I still wouldn't rule out someone much more conservative (a la Jeb Bush or Bill Frist). At this moment my sense is that a Frist-type candidate would struggle against a moderate Democrat, but the Republicans have shown they can get even the most radical candidates elected. McCain is more conservative than most people really understand, but the Republicans seem to want candidates who wear their heart on their sleeve when it comes to "family values," not someone with a sense of irony like McCain.

Contrary to your logic, I don't know that a Guiliani/Romney ticket would work well. They would still DEFINITELY lose New York (which would elect Mark Foley, running as a Democrat, for President before it would vote for a Republican) and likely Massachusetts as well, and all of a sudden the Southern states wouldn't seem so obviously winnable, particularly if the Democratic ticket included a Southerner.

No more Bush's in the White House, gimme a break.

I'm sure your 'base' voters would love Jeb, he would give his state of the union and then redo it in Spanish.

Can anyone saying they'd vote for him actually define any of his positions? (other than he pretty much toes the democrat party line)? I don't know either, he never takes any stances on anything, he's all charisma, no substance at this point (just like he was in Chicago politics).

Frankly, I hope party nomination ends up with a candidate that the party doesn't like (i.e. McCain vs. Lieberman)

NATIONAL POLITICAL AWARENESS TEST

SENATOR BARACK H. OBAMA REFUSED TO PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION WHEN ASKED TO DO SO BY:

Obama has as much a chance to be President as does Condi Rice.
Slim to none.
In case you haven't noticed the are BLACK.
The racist vote is alive and well in America. In fact if you look at George Allen of Virginia its alive and well in the Senate.
I would think that 10-20 percent of people would not vote for a black person no matter what.

Funny that your troll post brings up Virginia, the first state to elect a black governor (Doug Wilder). I think race is way overplayed in national politics - the country is ready and willing to support an electable black candidate, be it such persons as Obama or Colin Powell (before he got Bush's tarnish all over himself). When black candidates are offered who aren't silly race-baiting clowns (like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson), the vast majority will assess them on their merits, and not thier race.

If Obama was president, we would not have to worry about terrorism any longer. The muslim world would mistaken our chant "Obama, Obama, Obama!" for "Osama, Osama, Osama!"

That means it looks bad for Obama, Clinton, McCain etc.

BTW: How many Senators have lost the election lately? Kerry, Gore (was a senator then VP) Dole, Mondale... see a pattern? Being a senator is almost a death sentence on desire to be President. Wasn?t LBJ last senator to be President?

Exactly why he needs to run sooner rather then later. Long time service in the Senate is a death sentance for presidential hopefuls.

He should wait for the election after this one, or the one after that. Needs the experience and to get his positions better known first.

I'm not sure what his stance is on a lot of issues. I read on his website that he things "healthcare should be a right for everyone". Does this mean he favors a government healthcare system like that of Canada or that he wants to drive prices down so they are affordable?

Whats his stances on abortion and gay marriage?

Is he far left with his enviromental stances? Obviously being on the committee and having that up on the top of his list of issues it is important to him. I do think there is a level to extreme to my liking.

I would love to vote for a democrat if they were moderate.

Sometimes, 'one thing' is all you need to know to reach some big conclusions about someone, that they are unsuitable for your vote.

Seeing Bush on the side of wrong on that issue in so many ways - the insincere moralizing and the use of a woman's tragedy for political exploitation and more (his willingness to misuse state police to violate the law, for example) - can tell you that he's the sort of politician you do not want (or do want, depending on your views) in office.

It places him squarely in the current corrupt crop of republicans who pander to the far right, if there had been any doubts.

In the following post, Pabster posts:
No, and No.

I'd have to say that Pabster finally made a political post without error, but I don't think that's what he meant, unfortunately.

It was a particularly disgusting, cynical political ploy by the Republican right. I give Jeb an additional share of the blame because months after Terri Schiavo died, he directed his Attorney General to investigate Michael Schiavo based on supposed discrepancies in his statements about when he had called 911 after Terri collapsed.

My major objection to Jeb Bush, however, is his last name. His father was a marginal, 45th-percentile President, and his brother arguably the worst one in American history. I literally can't imagine a Democratic candidate who would motivate me to vote for Jeb Bush for President. I will say he doesn't seem nearly as bad as his brother, but them's the breaks - GWB has irreparably tarnished the Bush name for the foreseeable future.
