No. The system as it works now with all organs being taken on a donation basis and prioritized via triage as to the level of need is how it needs to be done.

Monetize it and you'll have people say with kidney dysfunction for example and able to continue for several years with dialysis and minimal impact, but they have more financial resources, taking a kidney away from someone who is on death's door and needs it today.

The American health care system is already enough of a disaster, this sort of idea would really sink it to new levels of dysfunction.

Everyone should be a donor, barring religious or political conflicts, when it's over it's over and your body is just a shell. Might as well do what will likely be some of the most profound good you could of ever done while alive.

FYI this is a common thing in America - not just for donation, but as parts for experimentation & other projects in the corporate world (the human tissue processing market). There's a really interesting show called "Who the (bleep) did I marry?" that had a segment on a guy who was stealing bodyparts from funeral homes under the guise of selling parts for medical use. He made millions before anyone found out:

So while I think that selling body parts after death might be kind of a cool idea (similar to life insurance...that could really benefit your family), I think the system would be abused too much to make it worth it.

But health insurance can be a difficult thing too...if the primary breadwinner (let's say the husband) dies at 40 years old from a heart attack & leaves a million-dollar payout to the wife, who lives for another 50 years until she's 90, that's only $20k a year to live on, which is not easy if you've got a bunch of young kids at home...then you either have to work & pay for daycare, or stay home & live frugally. So I could see how selling bodyparts, although grotesque-sounding, could be beneficial for the quality of life of the surviving family.

Even in the US, the percentage of organs that have at some point touched the black market is staggering... what's to stop the breeding for organs? Same stuff that stops it now (would be extremely difficult to maintain and hide vs the normal means the black market currently uses).

No. Doctors are less likely to help organ donors because they need some of that sweet organ donor money.

They won't even wait until you are dead, and are quick to harvest, even if you are improving.

Organ prices would collapse as people in poverty ridden parts of the world tore each other into pieces to get the bounty. A better way is to give more funding for research on stems cells or whatever so that we get ready-made organs by the end of decade.

Obviously the purpose of the question is to know how people feel about having their body used (for whatever reason) after their death, not to discuss the politics of healthcare

So my answer is, why wouldnt I? My body is useless to me once I am dead, so I dont give a damn what happens to it
You can cremate me and smoke me if you want, or throw my ashes down the toilet, so donating the organs would probably be a great idea, at least it would help someone

In fact Id say anyone who needs to be paid to do this has some issues... Probably religious or something
