Hi all.

Hope you can give me some advice in this matter.

Im thinking of buying a new computer. I think it will be an AMD XP 1700+ with a KT333 motherboard.

The only thing I cant decide on is the video card since everywhere I ask i get different answers and
the guides I've read tend to be a little fussy on this point.

I wonder if I should buy an Geeforce 4 Ti 4600 or a Radeon 8500. I dont care for the price I just
want to know which is best suited for gaming. The games I'll play will vary from CS to Aquanox.

Hope you can give me some advice.

thanks in advance

hmm, let me think...
um...

4600?

If price isnt an issue, there's no competition.
Even the 4400 and 4200 are better.

If price does not matter, why buy a XP1700 processor? Just look up the most expensive items you can find and buy it. It will have to be close to the fastest and best. It makes deciding what to buy a lot easier.

*cough*bs*cough*

If he did that, he'd end up with a P4 system and RDRAM! Ha!

With that said; even though I love my 8500 dearly, I'd have to go with the 4600 on this one.

If gaming performance is the sole factor considered then I'd definitely go with the GF4 Ti4600.

if price "isn't" a issue, than buy out nvidia and have the engineers personally produce a GeForce5 for you, or else go with a geforce 4600.

No question - the GF4 Ti4600. Better performance, better drivers and better image quality in 3D.

Get a GF4 Ti4600, it's vastly superior to the 8500 in every way, I tried one out for a while and loved it so much I bought my own, it's expensive but should last you atleast until the end of the year.

Hey, here's an idea! How about you buy a GF4 Ti4600(any brand will do, but Gainward would be nice), and I'll trade you for my Radeon 8500, now how's that for a deal

If price wasn't an issue all of us would have P4's clocked @3GHZ, 2 gigs of DDR memory, Geforce 5's, 120gig harddrive, 40x cd burners, modded cases, water cooled, etc.

Seems to me that one is a simple question. nVida has been and will continue to prove that they are the GPU kings. So for my answer, I know the GeForce4 4600 will make you a happy gamer. ENJOY! My Rig

Bang for Buck, is definately the Radeon 8500. But, if you're willing to spend $200 more for a GeForce 4 4600, then go for it. It's newer and faster no doubt about it.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Yes price is an issue but i wanted to know if the gf4 4600 was better then the radeon
and I will get the better one, prbably not gainward though. I guess it'll be an ASUS or
Leadtek.

As someone said, maybe i should get an XP 1800+ at least.

Thanks anyhow.

Stay away from Asus and get the Leadtek.
