I try not to be overly PC about things, but people do realize it is the act of carving up the sacred Black Hills that offends, not who is carved into them?
Is this for all of the hills? I thought Rushmore was specifically sacred, which was why this was always a problem.
Also, the visitors center of Mt Rushmore is a gaudy abomination.
And that's an understatement. All of the Rushmore park has to be the lamest, gaudiest, most worthless monument of any nation that I have visited. For a country that seems to pride itself on not having kings, it is a very strange thing.
GF and I stopped by while driving from one part of the country to the next. The center was staffed by young Russian kids, and basically every other word out of their mouths was "fuck" (in Russian).
Might as well have stopped off at "World's largest Ball of Yarn," or one of those roadside Gator parks in Florida.
