So you pour it over some ice and let it get cold and dilute a bit. If it still burns, spend more.

Keep the vodka bottle in the freezer. That's how it's done. It never freezes, but it becomes almost oily in consistence when you pour it in the glass.

There's not a vodka in the world that is soo smooth that it can be compared to drinking air. Grey Goose is still a bit rough if taken as a shot.

I only drink vodka in martinis...and I use very very little vermouth. The key to a good martini is starting with a quality vodka (Grey Goose is my favorite, although I generally drink Kettle One), a spritz of vermouth (I keep an olive oil spritzer filled with vermouth for martinis) and shaking it in a shaker full of ice until the sides of the shaker are frosty. Immediately strain into a cocktail glass, drop in a rinsed olive and enjoy!

surely you meant "the key to a good martini is starting with a quality gin"

I could never enjoy the taste of gin. I can appreciate a good vodka, scotch, single malt, cognac, wine, beer, etc. But gin has never tasted good to me. I've tried most of them.

QFT

My friend's dad is a large beer and wine distrubutor, and he can get vodka from all over the place. He has tried nearly every single brand, and he agrees Chopin is the best

however if you drink really cheap vodka (fleischmanns and other such shite), you can tell the difference. solution: run it through a brita filter (3-6 times), and it'll be much nicer, almost at smirnoff levels (myth busters, any1?).
That is so wrong I don't know where to even begin... Smirnoff is the vodka that burns my throat & the little more expensive Ketel One does not. Obvious difference.

And if you remember from the Mythbusters episode, their conclusion was the myth is busted, and a waste of filters.

btw, a delicious mix:

skyy melon vodka
cranberry juice

tastes EXACTLY like a cherry jolly rancher. mmmm...

You don't know what you're talking about. I can definetly taste a difference between smirnoff and greygoose or any other vodka for that matter. If I order a grey goose/tonic, I can tell if they use something else or if they are in fact using grey goose. And I dont think grey goose's labels are nice or fancy. I've seen PLENTY of more fancy and well designed eye catching labels on bottles of vodka.

Sure, that's what everyone thinks until they actually do a blind taste test.

The best vodka is Van Gogh, imo; the flavors are better than any other: chocolate, melon, apple, pinapple. Take the melon or chocolate add some Kahula (and cream) and you have one excellent Black (White) Russian.

Tito's Vodka is also rather good, its distilled 6 times, smooth and made in the good old USA!

I do a blind taste test everytime I order a grey goose/tonic. Plenty of bars will often times use another vodka just because they don't have grey goose or for whatever reason. And I can definetly tell when it's not grey goose. And Im not trying to brag about any special powers I have, I think anybody could recognize the taste difference.

Vodka is only nice for getting drunk or getting a buzz on, and when I'm doing that, I don't give a crap how it tastes. If I'm drinking for the taste, I'll drink beer, wine or a good whiskey.

Man, I took a shot of some no-name crappy (warm, room temperature) vodka once... that did not go down so well.

You know whats good though? (off the topic of vodka)- Bailey's. Call it a guilty pleasure . Not the hardest drink by any means but its smooooth.

I loooooooooooove Baileys. Fat, sugar, alcohol and coffee all in one... I mean jesus, what more could you want? The only thing missing from that bottle is a hot chick.

there's no such thing as the best, and certainly not on account of one person's experience. it's not an aged or fermented spirit. it all comes down to the quality of water + (grain | potato) + distillation process. it's by no means a choice spirit that can only be enjoyed by a chosen few who have the means to afford it like some of the wines, cognacs and scotch whiskys.

bottom line - stay away from plastic bottles, spend more than $9 a fifth if you're in the states and don't mix it with fruity sh1t

And I suppose you verify everytime afterward? I mean, you say anybody could do it, yet why does Smirnoff win blind taste tests?

No, I don't verify everytime. But I can certainly tell the difference. But if I can tell it's not grey goose, I won't say anything, just to avoid that kind of situation. My next drink won't be a grey goose/tonic.

And I dont know why smirnoff wins blind taste tests. Maybe smirnoff has the tester's on their payroll. Maybe the tester's actualy perfer smirnoff. Maybe it's just clevor advertising that you bought, who knows.

How could beer be any better? It's bitter and nasty, well most beer I've had.

But it doesn't burn. And it doesn't assault your senses...

Beer assaults my prostate like a mofo, like 2 piss breaks per 1 bottle/can
