How much food do you keep at your house/apartment?
I have virtually nothing, I am perfectly happy with eating bread and cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And I wonder if I am just a tight wad, or if that's all guys.

Er, well, I wouldn't be happy eating bread and cheese for 3 meals a day, I go out to lunch 5 days a week at work, but when I'm home alone, I get just as much satisfaction out of a bowl of cereal or a grilled cheese sandwich than I would from going through the time/trouble/effort to cook myself a steak or whatever else.

When the gf is over we inevitably go out to eat or cook some huge production of a meal, so hoenstly for me it's a split between half lazyness and half trying to compensate for eating so much other times.

If I was in a relationship or had friends here I would probably spend alot more. When I was with my ex we went out to eat alot.
As it is, I don't really leave the apartment anymore except for work, wal-mart, and to go jogging.

I don't see how $80 a week on groceries is a lot. I eat pretty cheap and it's $67.2 a week assuming I eat home made meals for lunch and dinner every day and skip breakfast (like I normally do).

My main food is rice or pasta and both are cheap. 1 lb of uncooked pasta is good for 2 meals and costs $1 if it is not on sale. Rice comes in a big ass bag (20 lb sacks but the have bigger) and costs about $20 depending on brand and quality 4-5 oz of rice (before cooking) is enough for one meal. For a meal I'll eat less than $2 worth of chicken breast and 50¢ worth of vegetables and another 50¢ for seasoning and cooking oil, maybe add in another $1 for sauce if I'm having pasta. If I decide to have a piece of fruit thats only something like 30¢ depending on what kind of fruit it is.

thats only $4.80 for a meal *14 = $67.20 and that is before I add in snack and foods drinks I might have, also price will go up if I have seafood.

Keep in mind that food prices vary with location. Grocery shopping in Indiana was about 25 to 33% cheaper than grocery shopping in Phoenix for me. Though alcohol is cheaper in Phoenix....

If I'm pinching pennies I can keep my food bill (groceries, snacks, pop, eating out, the whole 9 yards) at $40-50 a month. If I'm not making a pointed effort to watch my cash flow then it's probably $90-$100 a month.

And I live in Los Angeles.

Of course I'm not really a big "food fan." If I didn't need food to survive I'd probably never eat so I'm fine w/eating "boring" meals all the time.

You guys eat bread and cheese 24/7 and then make threads about why you are 6'1 130lbs.

now then, lets not stereotypicalise: I'm 6'2" and 10 stone (work it out). I spend, on average, £45 a week on food - no fast food or processed ready-meals nor eating out, I have lots of pasta, pots, rice, fish, chicken, veg (basically high carb - high protien (minus red-meat))

You eat nothing but bread and cheese for 3 meals a day every day for how many days? You can't possibly keep that up for long. I call shens.
