why the hell leave that ring of hair around the bottom of your head? Just shave the whole damn thing off.

This makes no sense!

Shave. Your. Fucking. Head.

Who the fuck are you to tell someone how to wear (or not wear) their hair?

(even if I do agree with you)

I'm a 24 old male with no sign of balding at the moment, but if I ever do have significant hair loss, I'll just take the razor and go all the way. That ring of hair has always looked ugly to me. No idea why so many guys stick with it. Must be something to do with age and lack of giving a shit.

That certainly helps.

I think you have discovered the truth here.

I am going bald and do not give a crap if it bothers people or not. If it does that is one more reason to grow my ring of hair. HaHa!

I wouldn't mind shaving completely though it would likely be more work than keeping it short, but my wife has vetoed it for whatever reason. I keep the hair short and the beard a bit longer and it doesn't look too bad.

We have a friend who is a successful orthopedic surgeon. He's a good looking guy with a hot wife who is a pediatrician, but he has the hair ring. I've never really understood it but maybe some people feel they look better with *something* up there.

i started losing my flat part of the flat top about mid-30s, so i just cut it down with clippers and no attachment. ive had a goatee for about 16 years tho, i have to keep it about 6" or 7" below the chin for work. my boss wishes it was 1" or 2" long, but whatever. some friends and my kids keep trying to get me to grow the ring but i refuse.

Everyone who has a hairstyle I disapprove of should shave their head!

Yeah, this can't even register as a blip on my give-a-shit-ometer. The ring of hair looks fine to me.

Male toupees are getting pretty awesome these days. I'm trying to convince my friend to get the OneRepublic hairpiece:

I think it has to do with being in denial about hair loss. Want to keep whatever is left.

I'm 30 and so far so good. Knock on wood. Though I do find my hair does not grow as fast or thick as it used to.

SOME heads aren't meant to be seen nekkid...just sayin...

I know my head, if seen without its thick, luxurious covering of hair...would scare small children and wimmenz.

Ha! The joke's on you guys. I take spironolactone and estradiol and now I don't have to worry about male pattern baldness.

I learned in basic training that the shaved head look does not suit me.

Just stating an opinion on fashion

There are some hairstyles from the 80's that we all now agree were terrible!

As I get older my appreciation for my thick and glorious head of hair increases continuously. I'm 38 this month and I will never have to worry about baldness in my lifetime.

I had long hair for awhile, then short, and it was thick black Mediterranean hair - but it's starting to go. I have no bald spot in the back, and I don't have a receding hairline either. Just the hair on top of my head from the front to the middle is thinning. Enough that I get it shaved down to the scalp once a week. But when I slack on shaving it colleagues say it still looks good but I don't care, I shave it back down. Luckily my head is shaped perfectly.

I have 2 friends who are totally bald, since their twenties. Both with totally normal looking head shapes. I asked them the other month if they miss their hair. Both answers were 'every day'.

It's a bummer.
