Hope not. I'm 50 and still watch Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and anything on the Boomerang network

Well since you guys are poking the necro...

What kind of cartoon are we talking? A low budget single studio project aimed at 3-5 year olds that runs for 7 minutes? Stuff like Cayou? Peppa Pig? Yes, I feel an adult could get bored with that pretty quick. Generalizing here quite a bit I know, but quality like say Gravity Falls or The Venture Bros, or the low brow niche stuff like Archer or Family Guy? I don't think the reaction would be boredom.

My kids like Gumball, Regular Show, Teen Titans Go, a few others. When I watch with them it's not uncommon for me to laugh along, also I'm a big Miyazaki fan. I am not too old for modern cartoons. Think I've got kids interested in Futurama now.

Some cartoons are probably actually more aimed at adults, like Family Guy etc. Sometimes I might watch stuff from my childhood if I come across it just as nostalgia.

I agree with your first sentence, but I couldn't imagine now willingly sitting through any of those Godawful Hannah-Barbara efforts I saw in childhood. Even at the time I felt I was wasting my time and that I was just waiting for the Simpsons to be invented.

If I want nostalgia it will be the original series of Star Trek (and not the animated one!).

No, there's plenty of adult oriented cartoons around. The format of the show doesn't dictate the audience.

I just want to say that Shawn the Sheep is awesome.

THIS IS A HILL I WILL DIE ON!

Nick Park; the English Jim Henson! I'll check out anything he does. Wallace and Gromit have been my jam since I first saw them on a British Airways flight when I was 11.

Amazon stole it and I was surprised that the new episodes were as good (or better) than the originals!

Yeah no Netflix right?

Amazon production budgets can do that though. I give the company and the guy heading it a lot of shit, but they've made some killer shows and honestly I'm still grateful for Bezos saving The Expanse, even after the last somewhat disappointing season.

Your free time is yours to do whatever you want with, within the limits of the law, but as far as opinion goes, if you are over 20 y/o and watching cartoons when you aren't a full time worker or combination of that and higher education, then you are too old to watch cartoons. Covid era being an exception.

My favorite cartoons are from the 30s-50s. But I wouldn't turn my nose up at some SpongeBob.

What now?

I'm over 50. I've worked through the entire pandemic. I'll judge a cartoons worth in the same way I'll judge a live action show.

Shits either good or it isn't.

^ Has nothing to do with being good or not, rather whether someone is stuck in the live in mom's basement watching tv instead of getting a jobby job, mentality.

Good is subjective, nothing stays on the air without sufficient viewership.
