would you rather work:

A) Comfy 10-5:30 type job and work from home on Fridays for 25% less pay

B) Work a lot more hours 9-7 or 8 Mon - Fri, high pressure, in the financial services industry where you can learn valuable skills and make 25% more salary.

Which would you choose?

B is what I'm doing right now, so I'd pick A.

It obviously depends on what you want to do. If you want to go into financial services industry, then B) is obvious. If you want to go to graduate school and have time to apply and study or whatever, then A) is a good choice.

A

I'd rather be comfy and not make as much money than under high stress and unable to enjoy the money I make.

EDIT: Oh wait, except I'm going to be married in a week... okay so that has something to do with it. If I were single I might pick B.

Totally would depend on how much 25% is and where these jobs are located for me. Most likely B though.

Obama's president: who needs a job? Just become a census worker and fuel his propaganda machine.

Depends on your overall priorities. For myself I chose B because I wanted to save a lot really quickly and then eventually quit and move back home to an area without a lot of jobs. If I chose A then I would never have the chance to move home.

I'd rather do A and make up the difference working for myself in the extra time.

In the situation you describe, assuming a 1 hr lunch break each day, choice B is working 28% more hours and only getting 25% more pay, with the likelihood that extra unpaid hours will be tacked on, and a high stress environment.

The choice seems obvious to me.

I picked A. Got a lot more time to do fun stuff. I just moved to a cheaper area, so it was feasible. Took a 15-20k paycut for a much more relaxing lifestyle.

With the lower cost of living, the drop in pay wasn't a huge deal.

I do work part time in various retail/fast food positions to supplement my real job, however unlike the people that actually work there, I can walk out anytime. That kind of freedom is so liberating.

Is the other job even related to what you want to do?

Edit: I honestly would rather get paid less to have a less stressful job, given I could live comfortably in the area off the money.
