Take into consideration lifestyle (# games played, injury risk, team sport, travelling, dedication, etc)

I was about to choose basketball, but actually it'd be golf.

Money is great, very individualized so your skill would shine through, great locations, not too hard on body, low risk of injury, and very classy. 2nd choice would be tennis.

You, ATOT?

definitely baseball -- less taxing on the body than most other sports, hence longer career

This. Baseball players also have the strongest union so they get much more favorable terms in their contracts. You also don't end up senile at 40 from too many concussions.

Basketball, because I actually like the sport and would always love to play it.

If I suddenly had the best golfing skills in the world, I would still be bored out of my mind playing it.

Apart from the sport where you play for yourself theres a lot of overpaid useless ones. David Beckham earns more than Messi. Messi helped his team won how many trophies?
Take note employers of No 2 and 3 on that list

Baseball, although golf is a good choice too. I'd just rather play in a packed stadium...golf is too chill. Baseball has big contracts, relatively low injury risk, etc.

Maybe soccer, actually. I don't know.

Athletes are paid those high amounts because the public is that willing to see them play. Their money doesn't grow on trees, if you have an issue with it take it to the everyday people who justified their salaries.

Well Messi and Ronaldo sell shirts and fill up staduims world wide. No 2 and 3 only does it in the USA. Theres a bigger market to exploit. Theres a difference than justify their worth and overpaying for a ego because those type of players in any sport normally puts your team morale into the ground. Fans want to see their team win trophies not Big names winning jack.

I woulld choose Football or F1
