Just like it says. You get to buy your only / first gun, what would you get? It can be anything under the sun a civilian would be able to reasonably own (Thus, MP5 is ok, 105mm or 120MM smoothbore is not).
The gun doesnt have to be for a specific purpose...ie...This isnt a for home defense, for concealed carry. This is simply, out of everything out there, what would you get first?

Glock 17 9mm - Preban. I do have one actually.

- 17 Shot Capacity
- Reliable
- Easy to find ammo (9mm is really 9x19mm NATO cartridge)
- Small (handgun) so you can take it with you - I have a permit to carry concealed handguns

That said, it is only part of a wide variety of choices out there and there is not 1 "perfect gun"

What's a "preban" glock 17? I've had one for 10 years, is it special now?

Sako RK-95

RK-95

Jane's considers it the best and most accurate weapon based on AK-47 design... Used one during my military service and loved it!

You can freeze it to -40, heat it to shizzling hot, bury it in the sand or mud... and it works flawlessly and accurately.

Somebody is waaaay off here. RK-95 is not AK-47 based, it's an EXACT copy (internally) of AK-47 with only difference being is that RK-95 is chambered for .223 instead of 7.62X39mm Finland has ALWAYS being notorious for copying Russian guns.

My personal choice would be Glock 18 Easy to conceal, select fire, lightweight, plenty of cheap ammo.

Wrong, it's not an exact copy! A lot of improvements have been made for the gas chamber, cover, sights etc... Also the assemby/disassembly is slightly different than in the AK-47. Yes, it's "basically" a copy (internally) BUT an improved one! Having used both AK-47 (and various versions) and RK-95, the difference is night and day!

Actually it comes in both flavors. 7.62 X 39 or 5.56 X 45 (NATO) which is .223 Rem.

No, it just refers to the ban on high capacity magazines. 17 shot capacity mags are only for LEO/Military now, unless you bought the mag "pre-ban".

It's the magazine that is "preban". The ban was on magazines with more than 10 rounds in them. I have several old preban Glock magazines and they are perfectly legal to own. The manufacturers just can't make any more and sell them to civilians. Cops can still get the old mags.

And to join in the poll, if I had to have only one gun it would be the Glock 21.
