If you could go back in time and witness one historical event...

What would it be?

For me it might be the crucifixion of Jesus or man's first discovery of fire. I wouold love to know where on this rock the exact spot where man first started a fire. That would be interesting. Think about it it. Fire makes the world go round. From power to automobiles to rockets. An amazing discovery.

I so love that movie. At the end where he's at the fork in the road it's like a symbolism of how he is at a crossroads in his life.

We history connoisseurs have to laugh at the silly plans of men such as yourself.

I would never go back to a time when people's lives meant nothing, torture and barbarism like crucifixion was the norm of the day. Very likely they'd crucify you if you just looked at them wrong or said the wrong thing.

You'd have to be nuts to want to live for a second in those dark ages.

It wouldn't be a presence that they can see. You'd just observe. You can't be known anyways for many, many reasons up to and including "the butterfly effect."

Anyway...

You'd have to be nuts to want to live for a second in those dark ages.

And by 2500 people will look back at this time, the first part of the 21st century and wonder how we even made it....

The Kennedy assassination.

The Trinity detonation.

Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

The Normandy landings on D-Day.

Number one, though, would probably be to go back and spend a day with my my mother's family in the 1930s. Amazingly hard working people in a small coal mining village in Pennsylvania. Or maybe spend a day with my Dad when he was in high school, or go out drinking with him when he was a young man, just after he got back from Korea.

The extinction of the dinosaurs, but I'd take my tablet to blog about it just in case I don't make it out.

Noah's ark would be cool. Bonus is nobody would be making fun of me for having a life preserve.

Jesus performing a miracle would be good too.

Or Adam and Eve, show up with some footage of the Trump campaign and that should be enough to convince them to stay away from the tree of knowledge. So much for the time space continuum, meh.

obviously the birth of jesus christ. easiest way to stop christianity from ever taking over the roman empire and obscuring the worship of the one, true god, Mars.
must remember to bring a brick.

I'd want to see an awesome event, though not necessarily awesome from a Western Civ perspective. How about witnessing the meteorite that wiped out most of the dinosaurs. (I assume that with my invisibility that I'm a spectator that has no influence on events, and thus no interaction with physical realities - only observing. Thus, cannot be harmed by physical things.) Can I move around a lot, quickly? In addition to the incredible fireball, I could see some mind boggling tsunamis, etc.

I'd go back in time and get in line for the bottomless buckets of fish Jesus was passing around.

I'd like to see that time Darth Vader sang "Brother can you spare a dime" at Godzilla's Bar Mitzvah.

I would pick something that gave me knowledge I could use to my benefit in the present, or where the knowledge could actually make a difference in the present.

I'd go to Roswell hours before the crash and see what really fell there, or perhaps watch the Philadelphia experiment first hand.

This too lol.

No mention of trying to stop the execution of this eccentric preacher, OP? Just like watching death and torture? Want to drive in some nails yourself?

Somebody needs to find a way to shoot a large mirror into space faster than the speed of light, and time travel as a spectator with a big telescope would be possible. We could watch the construction of Hubble with Hubble.
