New Hampshire. You get a reasonably warm summer, snow in the winter, low taxes, and you're only 1-3 hours from Boston.
fk that.
Low taxes? Maybe if you don't have a house...and warm? Dude, it was 55 degrees and damn near 90% humidity last night. Out of the ten day forecast, we have TWO DAYS when it's not supposed to rain.
Yes, I just got back from Arizona...and I want to go back...
Now if you like winter sports, there you go...but I have to put my toys away for half the year.

Income tax? Sales tax? Compare your taxes against Massachusetts.
As for warm, well, normally, this summer has been pretty poor all over New England.

I love this country very much so at this stage it would be somewhere here, but it's impossible to say without getting around more.

The Kipling magazine writeup isn't very in-depth. What is awesome about NZ?

I can drive 15 mins east and I'm at an amazing beach, 90 mins north and I'm at a world class vineyard, 45 mins west and I'm at a great ski field or 50 mins south and see incredible cliff faces and native bush. The diversity of landscapes over here within a short road trip is a photographer's wet dream. That's just one of the hundreds of reasons I love NZ.
