2001 m3 hands down

Thank you.

Ive seen a few 1998-2001 BMW m3's, for sub 16-18k on ebay.

They are a rare find, and they are often purchased using buy-it-now within 1-2 days of the auction.

Here, I will say it simply...

YOU CANNOT COMPARE A NEW TRUCK TO A USED BMW.

Do you get it yet? There is no comparison.

That's like comparing AMD's processors to Crucial's RAM.

Ugh, here we go AGAIN.......

Lets say--by theory, you went to visit your uncle in Florida. He is a rich rich rich man, and your whole fam, went up to stay for the weekend.

you arrive at his house. Lets also say you just graduated. He pulls you asside, shows you two cars.

a bmw, and a truck. He says "You graduated, congrats, PICK ONE."

Both the BMW and the TRUCK are the same price.

Which would you choose.

-Monzi

personally, I think that Crucial's RAM is way better than AMD's processors, if you think otherwise, quite life.

Ya--I didnt want to include evry posisble luxury car.

Hence the reason why I did Benz/BMW and TRUCK.

I was going to add in Civic to give a more broad basis, but decided against it.

I heard bmw and benz are expensive to maintain, but im sure the price diffrence is that much greater then a lexus.

Im also sure its not DOUBLE the price to fix a BMW vs a truck. I guess it all boils down to personal prefrence.

WTF? Are some of you just stupid? Answer the question and quit with all the apple/oranges talk.

I'd take the truck because I've been thinking about buying one anyway. I have more of a need for a truck than another car at the moment.

Ya--heh, thanks for your support.

My first car will be a toss up, between a sudan, and a SUV.

Not too sure--I still have to sit down and think of what is feasible.

Monzi, I think you're having trouble seeing beyond the image of a "classy car." There are alot of people who don't care what others might think of them and opt for utility instead. As for myself, I'm a college student who opted for a new '03 Tacoma DC. Why did I choose it over a sedan?

I liked the versatility it afforded me. I'm young and not too settled, so having a truck would be a huge plus whenever I moved. I live an active lifestyle (camping and mtn biking in summer and snowboarding the winter) and the extra space in the back gives me plenty of room in the back while seating 4-5 guys in front.

I weighed my options very carefully and decided to invest my money in a brand with a sterling reliablity reputataion and with a vehicle that would fit my needs. Thats why I chose my truck over a "bimmer."

DrVos, thank you for your reply; One of the best responses yet--very clear and well said. Ill try to explain it, the way I see it. I see it as money being spent. If your gonna pay for something, why not pay for the best item? Well--before I continue, Im not trying to push my self on others, or MAKE evryone here on ATOT buy a BMW. But from my research I think its not a un-feasible thing to do. I enjoy mnt biking, and I am an avid snowboarder. I really like the safety factor that you might be able to get from a high-end-sports sudan, for example, I would feel more comfortable driving with my kids and wife/gf in a BMW, rather then in a ford f150. There are so many variables that need to be weighed, and many many pro's and con's. I am still a college student, so a truck might even come in handy if I need to move from apt, to apt. But given my point of view on the plus side of a truck, I might be moving, once evry two years, or given once a year. Truck rental for one day, wont be more then 40 dollars. One other thing I would like to mention that several others have also stated is the price of repair on the luxury car might be high. But that is just a down side of owning a bmw/benz/lexus, I guess it comes down to weighing the pro's and con's of each car.

bmw may be more expensive to maintain then a truck, and a truck may be more expensive fuel wise. What it all comes down to is personal prefrence at the end. The MAIN reason of my post--was to try to find out the point of views of other people, and what they rather have. I am not here to argue about Crucial ram, and AMD proc's. an other reason I started this--is because I saw several threads in ATOT, that discuss cars ranging from acura's, to civics, to various trucks. I was just curious on what people would choose REGARDLESS of price. This post was not ment to detenate world war 3, altho the nuke exploded prematurly.

Anyway--I can see why some people may want trucks, and I can see why others may want, sudans.

If you want my opinion, spend hte money on a classic, sink $20,000 into it and you will have a car that is 100000x better than any of the cookie-cutter new stuff. People will notice the originality more than any amount of money spent on a boring BMW or Mercedes and especially a truck

If I needed a truck, you know to haul stuff around, I would get a truck. At the moment I do not need a truck.

Civic

I don't want to pay for the gas

Also, I cannot for whatever reason drive around anything worth more then $20,000. I feel like I could have spent all the extra money on stuff I actually care about. Cars and Gas are not one of them.

Hell, just give me a decent bike.

Truck 9 times out of 10

I am an engineer in Texas. Here a truck is just as much of a status symbol as a BMW or a Benz. Many people would rather pull up at a restaurant or a business deal in a Truck over a sedan as it shows a little more "presence" in this area of the US.

I gather from your profile that you are a northerner. If you come down here, you can see for yourself. Since you are studying engineering, civil for that matter, you may see the benefits of a truck, however let me explain further.

Many here would not let anything go in the bed of their truck. Actually they wax it or have the bed waxed. It is a show piece like a ricer car, not a utility vehicle. For every truck on the road here in Houston, there is another on the road with 20 inch rims and leather interior. Those trucks are NOT for work, but for play. You sit higher in the vehicle, so you can see traffic problems earlier, you are monitored by the smaller vehicles on the road because you can do much more damage to them than they can do to your. This is also the reason we have the rise of the SUV.
