That happened to my brother in law, he got "Old Money". His mom died of cancer. Father left the family when he was young.

Pretty much he and my sister just travel the word, doing what they like.

I rather have my parents alive than that though.

Edit: Alive and together.

What I was always curious about is that when those type of rich people have kids, how do they keep those kids motivated in school. I mean my parents said study hard if you want to make it in this world, etc. What are rich parents going to say? Even if they are crackheads they are going to be comfortable.

Paris Hilton is an example.

I'd do all kinds of jobs that are interesting but you don't wanna do forever, or that don't pay very well. Long haul truck driver, forest fire fighter, auto mechanic, alaskan crab fisherman, carpenter. I guess I'd be like the Pretender.

I'd do absolutely nothing....for a while. Then I'd travel for a long ass time. There are too many places to see in the world.

4. Donate $20 million to the BSA, $20 million to paying off the National Debt, $20 million to the Puget Sound Blood Center.
5. Invest the remainder.

And then I'd keep doing what I'm doing: working in residential life to pay my rent, finish up my masters, join the Army NG and get my CPA&CMA licenses, work for an accounting firm, and just get on with my life. I'd go stir-crazy otherwise.

I do think I'd commit myself, once I reached the age of 30, to going back to school and studying Latin/Greek/Ancient history.

LMAO!

More than one person in this thread knows what a hoverround is. I had to google it. Are many of you around senior citizens? I couldn't name one assisted mobility device if my life depended on it.

$20M to help easy the national debt of oh TRILLIONS? I don't think any private citizen has ever donated money for the national debt. Do you think they'd even apply it to the debt? That might buy a few toilet seats at the rate the government wastes money.

Where are all these people that are doing this? What are you talking about?

I've heard anecdotal evidence of senior citizens (who lived through the Depression) specifically sending in an additional check with their tax returns. The checks are earmarked "For the National Debt" or something similar. I don't know the veracity of such tales, but I agree with the sentiment.

nice house (nothing outrageous) + couple new cars (nothing outrageous)

invest a good portion of it.

keep taking college classes, maybe two at a time, earning 2-3 degrees for fun.

travel the world and go on expeditions.

go on long drives listening to Oasis.

travel to tennis tournaments during the hard-court season in the US.

what would you do for the rest of your life?

Sure it'd be nice to quit work and travel and go out and have fun every night with your SO or friends or whatever but wouldn't you run out of stuff to do after a year or so and be like "Damn, now what?"?

OK...think about this. So far, I have never gotten tired of LAN parties. If I had $100 million, imagine the LAN party I could throw and who would show up. Yeah, that's what I thought.
