If you had around $10k to spend on a used car, what would you choose?

There's not much pull anywhere. I burned one like a couple weeks ago in a short stoplight contest and I just have an auto I4 accord.

Of course handling is decent for those cars.

Yea, the Civic seems to outperform my girlfriend's 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (SLow version) and my stepdad's Mercury Sable DOHC 32V V6 (the fastest version).
