I think I only got through half of that and went off to do something else. This was some time ago. I keep meaning to go back to it. Scorsese, of course, does great work with rock/music/concert movies (The Last Waltz is the greatest ever example of the genre). But I'm also very partial to Stop Making Sense.
Which, by the way, for anyone into the brilliance of the Talking Heads and/or David Byrne, you should watch his American Utopia (film version directed by Spike Lee). --it is excellent, except for one infuriating scene where, for some inexplicable reason, Lee decides that this great stage work with light and shadows that is clearly happening should
not be captured on film as it is clearly meant to be scene, and the sequence should just stay as any other concert film with a lot of low, medium shots, panning, and handwork. I mean...wtf. I was so mad, lol.
So yeah, there's your review of American Utopia, anyway.
