Seriously, I'd buy myself a nice little house in a few countries (USA, Switzerland, Australia and UK). Give enough to my family so that they don't need to worry about financial problems. Put some in an account gaining interest for any kids that I may have. Then I'd donate huge amounts to cancer, AIDs and other various diseases.

I'd be a kickass rich person (though I wouldn't be rich by the time I'd given most of it away to research. *Shrugs* I'd be happy in the knowledge I'd made a large difference to some people's lives.

I inherited $20k a year ago and didn't have to pay taxes on it because my aunt already paid them before she died.

You don't have to pay inheritance tax if the value of the estate or inheritance is under a certain amount. The ceiling used to be around $600,000, but I believe it either has increased or will be increasing to around $1 million (ball-park figures).

So, if a person has paid any federal inheritance taxes within the last decade, that person inherited a rather large booty.
