Fully soundproofed room. Pretty small at 11.5x17 due to a small house. Only seats 3, but that has never been a problem. Line arrays have 20 Aura NS3-193 drivers in each L/R and 12 in the center channel. Subs are 4 Adire Shivas in the front, sealed, and dual Dayton RSS315HF 12's on the right side. Used a calibrated microphone to measure and EQ the fronts and subs, then ran Audyssey for all the channels.

I've never been a huge fan of surround and don't think the extra 2 channels do much. I'd be perfectly happy with just 2 channels up front but when building this theater I said screw it, it will only be a few hundred more to add 2 more channels and just did it.

Projector is an Epson 8350 projecting onto an acoustically transparent Seymour AV 104" screen I built, which mounts in front of the center channel (you can see the four blocks it attaches to). I never took a completed picture but you can get the idea by looking at this:

So you are really running 5.1 right?

If you look at Kaido's post that I quoted, he said:

"Does 9.2 add a lot to the experience?"

I replied that I didn't think the extra 2 channels added much, compared to 7 channels of surround.

that is just it, from your post I only count 5.1. two front, one centre, two surrounds and a bunch of subs.

I'm getting really interested in Atmos. It's too new to buy right now, but maybe in a couple years we'll have 4K + Atmos content readily available. That would be amazing!

Depends on what key items I wish to show off in my setup. There is no movie well rounded enough to show off every aspect of a theater at its cutting edge and *also* be interesting to watch.. (IMO).

Display:
Plasma or OLED screen? Alien Blu-Ray for deep, inky blacks and shadow detail

Projector? - The Matrix Reloaded for larger-than-life action sequences (highway scene), or Gladiator (redone Blu-Ray with no edge enhancement)

LCD - Throw the screen away. (...Avatar because of color pop and few low-light scenes)

Audio:
Positional sounds - Live Free or Die Hard
Low Frequency Effects - Tron Legacy

Mad Max: Fury Road

This was impressive on my meager setup. The sound was like one of those old Memorex commercials with the dude in the chair. I usually have my volume at 50%, but had to drop it down to 30%. When I eventually get a house and buy new gear this will be the first movie I play.

Honestly I'd show gravity. That movie is amazing for a great audio and large screen immersive setup.

That would probably be pretty good, at least the first 30 min or so. I used to use Twister to test my surround sound, but only the first chapter.

Any fans of "The Way of the Gun" here? I imagine the sound quality from those gun-fights would be utterly spectacular on a proper HT-system. I watched it in Virtual Surround and I could easily tell how much care was put into the gun-fight scenes, it sounded pretty impressive on my tiny little 2.1-setup.
