what if you don't know the exact date and year of your Epson? The form asks for that info, is it printed anywhere on the printer itself?

Assuming that you didn't register your printer already (did you receive a notice in the mail?), the Claim Form only asks for the month and year of purchase, not the exact date. As long as the month and year is reasonably close to the date the printer with your serial number was in retailers' inventory, I'm sure you won't have a problem.

Remember that Epson is not the one reviewing these claims, it's an independent third-party that has no interest in denying your claim.

You think it would be illegal to sell the 25% coupon. It pisses me off that I have to buy something from them to get my money back. There are like 2 items in the store that are under 45$. Too bad they don't sell monochrome lasers...I will never buy another epson agian I have had so much trouble with mine.

This sucks because in that time frame I've bought 6 Epson inkjets, but currently only have 2. Sigh.

No! Regardless of whether you: (1) previously registered; (2) register now or (3) never register, if you send in a properly completed mailed claim form, you can get either the $25 cash and $20 credit or the 25% coupon.

The Claim Form makes this clear.

well, the online form doesn't let you choose which coupon combo you want....the claim form has the option. So what do you get if you fill the online form?

To receive the alternate benefit you have to fill out the form and mail it in.
FAQs for In Re Epson Ink Cartridges Cases Settlement Website

What are the settlement benefits for class members?
(top)

Settlement Class Members who have already registered a qualifying printer with EAI, or who register a qualifying printer with EAI by November 13, 2006 will automatically receive a $45 credit to be used in the Epson E-Store for each registered qualifying Epson InkJet Printer. Registered Settlement Class Members are not required to submit a claim to receive the $45 credit. The following printers are eligible for settlement benefits: [list of qualifying printers].

To register a qualifying printer with EAI, go to www.epsonstore.com/benefitsreg and complete all required fields.

In the alternative, a Settlement Class Member may reject the $45 credit and instead elect, by not later than June 22, 2006 (the ?Claims Period?), to receive either: (a) a combination of $25 payable by check and a $20 Epson E-Store credit for each registered printer; or (b) a discount of 25% off Epson E-Store purchases for a total discount of up to $100 with respect to each registered printer.

To obtain the alternative benefit, a Settlement Class Member must complete and mail the enclosed claim form (the ?Claim Form?) to the Claims Administrator listed in the Claim Form, postmarked no later than June 22, 2006. Settlement Class Members who have not registered their ownership of a qualifying printer with EAI, or who wish to receive settlement benefits for multiple printers, may do so by submitting a Claim Form within the Claims Period. On the Claim Form, the Settlement Class Member must provide the owner?s name and address, an e-mail address, if any, and the model, serial number, purchase date (month and year) and purchase location of his, her or its qualifying printer. EAI and the Claims Administrator have a right to validate the information provided in any Claim Form or registration.

The online form is simply to register your printer with Epson. However, If you register, you are assured of getting the automatic credit of $45 under the settlement. If you want one of the alternative benefits, you still have to mail in the claim form, even if you have previously registered.

Clear?

The Notice speaks of:

Class Members who have not registered their ownership of a qualifying printer with EAI. or who wish to receive settlement benefits for multiple printers, may do do so by submitting a Claim form within the Claims Period

I think that's why the registration URL only accepts two entries--if you want to claim benefits for more than two printers not previously registered, you have to submit a claim form for the other printers.

Hurry, the deadline to submit the Claim Form is June 22, 2006!

Why would I keep my busted epson printers around? I don't keep a list of serial numbers handy. I had 4 (that I can remember) Epson printers in that timeline, which I finaly replaced with one B&W and 1 color laser about a year ago, certainly not from Epson. I learned my lesson.

I didn't even get a registration confirmation. How long did it take them to send you that?

I'm glad this was bumped to the top. I almost forgot. I just spent about ten minutes doing the paperwork on a couple of printers, one my workhorse, an ancient 880 which I still use every day and I purchased in 2001! So anyway, ten minutes work for potentially $50 equals about $300 per hour, minus a couple of stamps. As I was tracking down my purchase information, I stumbled on the fact both of these had rebates at the time I purchased them. So not only was the original purchase price cheap, I also got a rebate, and I will hopefully be getting $25 more for each printer. The icing on the cake is all these years I've been running dirt cheap Megatoners ink.

Haha, i have a 880 and a 888. Same here: running the printers on megatoners. They still work (get clogged every now and then), but so what? Not using them for something too important.

Whats weird is that these printers (880, 888) are not going for anything less than $50 on ebay even now...

I've got 2 printers that qualify, and 1 that is on the list of qualified printers but was purchased in 1998. I would think that the dates ought to correspond to when the qualified printers were on the market.

But thanks for posting this here or I would have missed out entirely.
