I would rush the hijackers immediately. After 9/11 you can't afford to give up control of the aircraft even for a moment. I really think most people would follow suit and work together to overpower them.

WTF? What do you think happened on the third 9/11 flight as mentioned, and how do you think Richard Reid was stopped from blowing up the flight he was on?

Richard Reid is a jackass. He would've succeeded if he went in the can and lit up his shoes. Either he is stupid or he wanted to get caught. (Not that it was a bad thing--that's really what saved those lives)

Cheers!

I think it's pretty much impossible to get a gun on a plane now, so we could expect to see box cutters or something type of knife.

Wrong, weapons on a plane are not hard. It just takes a decent amount of time and the right kinds of people. You get people working in the airport and you can arrange to have anything on the plane. It may take a huge amount of time to place someone in that position though, and the kind of people that are up to something like that usually don't assimilate into a workplace that well.

I think i'd rather be the loud one during a hijacking, than a quite one. Remember if you start to rush others will follow suit, people need a leader and you'll become the leader--leaders lead the charge.

Quiet ones....not quite ones

Reminds me of a bus driver I had when I was a kid. He had a thick southern drawl and would yell out, "Y'all be quite". I'd always yell back, "Quite what?"

Yeah...I was a smarta$$

I'd go in and take my shoes off and put them on my hands to block the knife and hopefully 2 or 3 of us would beat the crap out of them.

I've also thought about how I would hijack a plane...if I were to hijack a plane I'd book a flight full of terrorists. It'd be real easy to figure out who the sky marshall was if there wree 240 terrorists on board. Who would stop you?

Problem with booking a flight full of terrorists is the FBI is bound to catch on to you soon enough.

If I was to hijack a plane, you can tape a really sharp piece of glass to your back and you would not get stopped. Get a couple of people to do that, and there you go. Just as lethal as a box cutter. Also a credit card can be very deadly if cut and used right (ala Nina on 24)

I'd definitely fvck them up but a smart terrorist wouldn't tell the people that they hijacked it. Who knows, maybe that happened on 9/11, those people didn't really realize that they changed directions until they were in New York. I honor the men that brought the Shanksville plane down.

I'd rush them only if they had box cutters and such. If they had guns then I wouldnt do anything, unless someone rushed then I'd follow.

a smart terrorist would have only a few of them really announce that they were terrorists, while 10-20 or however so many terrorists act like innocent bystanders as a backup plan.

attack the announced terrorists, and the unaccounced would kick your arses. but that is just my opinion. i hope this doesnt lead me to be arrested because im posting this

Well this is one of those circumstances which seperate the men from the boys, or the talkers from the walkers, rather. Its very easy to speculate about what one might do, but the reality is, all the rules fly out the window and nothing that one has ever said and done before matters. There is no going back and doing it over if one makes a mistake or miscalculates his options.

It is common in these kinds of situations for people who have envisioned themselves springing into action to sit and do nothing, paralyzed with fear, whereas people who never previously believed they would possess the guts to do something take charge and get the job done. Its really funny how this kind of thing works out a lot of times. The 'big tough guy' might pee his pants while the quiet unimposing guy with the 'Poindexter' glasses does all the ass kicking. lol!

Some of these are not mutually exclusive. Firstly I'd sh*t myself. Then I'd wait for a sky marshall to do something. Then If nothing happened I'd coordinate with other passengers. And if that was not possible I'd just jump one if I could find them and hope to hell somebody jumps in with me. Idleness is the work of the devil.

Usually there are only two or three "sleepers". The Air Marshall service trains for this scenario, as does any counter-terrorist unit or agency. Several movies have depicted just such a scenario with a few sleepers 'blending' in with the rest of the passengers.

What are you talking about, there have been several incidents with people just trying to gain access to the cockpit or being unruly since 9/11, and they got their arse kicked by the passengers.

Also this senario will never happen again. The terrorists knew this was a one time deal which is why they all four planes at once. Today if the passesngers and marshalls don't get em a sidewinder or sparrow missle will.

I would start chucking my laptop, cell phone, CD player, etc at them. I figure it like this... if someone hijacks a plane I'm on, there is a good chance I'm going to die anyway, so why not go out trying to stop a potential terror attack.

*lets roll*
