If you were charged with murder and you knew you were innocent... Would you

You have been wrongfully charged with 2nd degree murder.
Possible Life in Prison. The entire country wants to see you go to jail/hung. If you are let go... You will probably die anyways.

What would you do? (say what you would do? where? why?)

If I were in his situation, i would've bailed the f-k out of here by now. I'd rather live some nomadic life in africa or on some trade ship in the philipines or working some factory in eastern europe than sit in jail for the rest of my life, and probably get raped in jail. I for one, would NOT have shown up in court to be arraigned.


DISCLAIMER: I am not taking a stance. I'm just wondering what people would do in a situation like George Z. if they KNEW they were innocent.

It always makes me wonder why these people don't flee. Some of these cases can take months or even years before they start. It's pretty ridiculous how the cases can drag on. Gives the criminal plenty of chance to get out of the situation.

I would personally have fled to another country, maybe change my ID in that process.

This is why i asked this question, Red Squirrel. I wanted to know that I wasn't the only one in the situation that would risk my life in jail. EVEN if i were innocent, in the off chance that they wrongfully prove I am guilty of 2nd degree murder.

I will not sit in jail for the rest of my life for something I have not done.

He just needs to bail and go to Mexico. Then cross over illegally and take up living as an undocumented migrant worker.

It really sucks to be in his shoes. On one hand, he's already been tried and convicted by the media, thus potential jury members are already influenced.
On the other hand, he's getting it over with. Without being charged, he would live every day wondering wether some new D.A. hell bent on making a name for themselves decided to charge him since there is no limitation in FL for murder.

Zimmerman is going to have to be kept in isolation or under house arrest as he will be killed in jail/prison if he goes.

The 911 operator asked him to describe Martin. Zimmerman has black friends standing up for him and he has a record of helping black families.

That would be awfully though. The only thing going for him is that the American public has a very short memory. People won't even care about this case in 6 months b/c they'll move on to some other giant public scandal or Hollywood deal. The only thing this case will be remember for is the jokes about wearing a hoodie.

Remember the huge outcry over Scott Peterson, or that crazy bitch who killed he kids? People don't really even care anymore.

I'd go to court for a few reasons:

1) The SYG law will give me two chances to argue self defense
2) If I can't get the charge dismissed under SYG the burden of proof for 2nd degree is high
3) You kinda have to have some money to run
4) Most places you could run to without extradition are crapholes
