NCIX - Reliable, nice site with lots of content, and about an hour drive away.

Getting online store pricing without paying for shipping is great

I too would also have to throw in a vote for Newegg. Not only do they have great prices and selection but great customer service in my experience.

Directron, just because I hate paying for tax and excessive shipping fees (gg newegg).

NewEgg is pretty good, but they dont have very good prices on the latest and greatest stuff all the time. Googlegear and NewEgg together are my faves, one always has to look at pricewatch.com as well.

A local PC shop. Simply for the reason that it doesn't cost any more, and I could return any part within 15 days for any reason. And what they don't have in stock, they can get the next day.

I know some of you won't believe that you can buy stuff locally for the same as Newegg, so heres a comparison with a local store, ENU Inc.

P4-2.26g
Newegg - $270
ENU Inc. - $268

Asus P4B533
Newegg - $145
ENU Inc. - $144

True Samsung PC2700
Newegg - $170
ENU Inc. - $165

And like I said, if I don't like the part (for whatever reason) I can simply take it back. I've done that with a couple motherboards in the past, that I simply didn't like. (i.e. The P4B533-VM didn't have the features I wanted, and I didn't realize it until I ran it... Took it back and got a P4B533.)

Newegg. As long as I order before noontime, I get it the very next day (at least, where I live). However, for heavier items, I go to CompUSA, gotta love those rebates when they have them.

Only problem I have with Newegg is their shipping costs - if you have something like a CD-Drive that costs maybe $4 to ship, then add a tube of Arctic Silver 3, it just adds the shipping rate for the AS3 - $6. So the shipping cost went from $9 to $13 - just by adding a SINGLE TUBE of Arctic Silver! Something like that just doesn't make sense - I even called them about it, and they said there was nothing they could do about that.
Otherwise though, their component pricing is decent.

Agreed, although the shipping dose top off at $40 or so dollars, shipping prices are pretty horrible there.

How come nobody buys locally? This can't be the only town with good "mom & pop" PC shops.
