If your car got stolen and you needed another one, would you feel comfortable asking your parents for a loan?

I might. I would probably just ask my dad to cosign, though, as my credit is horrible, thanks to Best Buy changing CC companies, stopping my billing, and reporting me as delinquent for 8 months.

Most definitely. It's not like you'll be keeping the money. As long as you pay them back (with a reasonable amt. of interest too) I think it's perfectly fine.

If I knew they could afford to be w/out the money until I paid them back, then yes, I'd ask them.

It'd be maybe $3,000 to 5,000. Banks charge interest and make it a pain in the ass to do things like sell the car before it's paid off if you need to for some reason.

I would be comfortable. My parents have always been very helpful with money when I need it (though they always expect payment back). They know I am good for it and so would do it without even blinking.

Having only liability = you're SOL when your car gets stolen. (Very sorry to hear about that BTW).

Hell yeah I would ask. That's what parents are for. In this situation....of course!

No. If my car got stolen the insurance company would buy me a new car. Plus since I'm, ummm, let's just say older than a certain age, and make triple the money my parents do, asking them for money in any way, shape, or form, would be uncomfortable for all of us.

Now if Iwas 16... No, wait a minute, insurance would still cover it. But I would ask for money anyway.

Just ask the bank, that way, the bank will force you to have better insurance.

You don't want to have it stolen again with nothing to show to your parents, your gf, and your cat.

I can't afford comprehensive insurance coverage. To insure even a $5000- 7500 car will cost me over $200/month, even with relatively crappy coverage (basically, enough to make the bank happy).

Then don't buy a car.

How ethical are you? This is an option, though I do not know if I would do it.

Insure your truck(if you still have it) with just liability and then buy a new car with full coverage. Make the truck your primary vehicle with the new car a pleasure vehicle.
