Many moons ago when I was a sophomore in college (95-96) my father bought me a Packard Bell (I know it sucks, no need to tell me!) Anyway, it supposedly came with a one year on site warranty. About 6 months into ownership, the power supply died. This was during my hell year in college where, because of psycho roommates in the dorm, I did not sleep for more than 2 hours a night. If I was lucky. I was in week 3 of a 5 week bout with the flu. I was terribly sick, I had a horribly high fever and was told not to get out of bed. I also had almost completely lost my voice. So anyway, when the power supply died, I called the customer service number, which I believe was a long distance number in UTAH! I sat onhold for something like 6 or 8 hours, TWICE before I could get a hold of someone. Once I did get to talk to a live person, the first thing that snot nosed punk said was "Ma'am, you need to speak up or I'll have to hang up." I proceeded to inform him that I was seriously ill and could not speak much louder than I was already speaking. I explained the problem and he told me that I'd have to take the computer to TOLEDO to be fixed!! I calmly informed him that my computer came with an on-site warranty. He told me that that only applied to people in larger cities. That's when I demanded to speak to someone higher up, and after a bit of talking in which I complained about the phone bill I was gonna get, how sick I was, and their warranty, an exteremly nice repair guy was sent out the next morning.
Of course, nowadays I could have fixed it myself, but I was hours away from family and dangit, it was under warranty.
