Bunch of disgusting fat bodies in here!

I get the cocoa brown rice puffs from Costco. Super delicious, and nutritious.

Egads. On a forum where so many members seem to understand that diamonds aren't rare, but they've had an incredibly effective marketing campaign, I'm disappointed that so many members seem to have fallen prey to the cereal marketing campaigns starting when they were watching Saturday morning cartoons. Hell, it's like the cigarette advertising of yesteryear - get the kids hooked on your shit and you've got customers for life. "omg! But it's part of a good breakfast!" It's shit.

And... it was invented by Kellogg as an anti-masturbation food. After reading posts here for quite a few years, I'd say that if Kellogg were alive today, and saw this thread, he'd roll over in his grave.

I'm old enough to remember when the crack (that was a typo, but I'll let it stand, I meant to type crap) they're filling the shelves with didn't exist. In fact, they didn't have sugar coated cereals back in the 1950's. Then Kellogg came out with Sugar Frosted Flakes, and then Sugar Pops, and then the flood gates just opened. Before that they had stuff like plain Cheerios (yeah, General Mills), Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies. Unsugared. We used to sprinkle some sugar on top after pouring in milk. I have cut way down on my sugar. That stuff is really bad for you. Of course, almost all of the scores of breakfast cereals filling the aisles today are inundated with refined sugar.

Kellog's Honey Smacks (the ones with the frog in the hat on the front I seem to recall) is today 55.6% sugar. By weight. That is to say, the box is 55.6% full of sugar.

Actually, it's mostly air, but they don't have to list that as an ingredient.

For most of my twenties my breakfast consisted of some bong hits, a cold can of Coke, a couple cigarettes, and then a few Oreo's or other cookies.

Good times.

the breakfast of champions! lol

i did oreos for breakfast every day from the ages of 8 to like 25. now i only eat them for breakfast on the weekends. unless there's cake around, in which that takes precedence.

I said I liked Golden Crisp and I do. Having said that its been a LONG time since I've eaten it or any sugar-filled cereal aside from Raisin-Bran which at least has a shit-ton of fiber to offset the carbs.

That's the "healthy" name. They used to be called Sugar Smacks. They put a trivial amount of honey in the mix, then changed the name, cause honey is totally healthy, and a quality breakfast food, right?

I sometimes eat candy cereal as dessert. In fact, I almost never eat it as a proper meal. At least is has vitamins, and some other attributes that makes it better than cakes and stuff.

When I was a kid, I only chose cereals based on what the prize was inside.

I seem to remember it tasted pretty awful.

Wasn't that great and plus it was $5 and the box was small. BUT...but, you got a cool collector 3D card, probably worth something these days to make up for it.
