I got the Sony A7s when it released and was blown away. Sony E-Mount can also accept Nikon lenses with full auto focus and aperture adjustments BTW.
I generally loathe Sony as a company, but they are killing it right now.

Wait really? Oh man, I've been contemplating whether or not I want to switch from a D3300 to a A6000. It works even for the kit lens?

While lenses from other brands can be adapted to Sony E-mount AF performance is a still a hit and miss depending on the adapter and camera. On the a6000 Sony decided not to allow on sensor PDAF so AF is slow for just about any adapter. It's not until the a6300 and a6500 that this feature was added on their aps-c cameras. AF performance greatly improved but it still varied from one to another.

Well, I decided to make the jump from my old 8 year old 7D to 6D Mark II from the recent Adorama deal. I'm really disappointed with Canon lack of progress and even regression in terms of low ISO dynamic range. I'm also super impressed with what Sony is doing with their mirrorless full frame bodies - they have excellent dynamic range, in body image stabilization, and very good focusing system. Their sensors are just excellent. And then I see videos like this:

And I just can't make the jump to mirrorless just yet. This is a9, a $4000 body from Sony, and the continuous shooting shutter lag is just horrible. You're not seeing what you're shooting, you're seeing the last photo you've taken. Plus their Zeiss lenses are just so much more expensive, Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 is $900, while Canon nifty fifty can be purchased for less than $150.

Having said that, I hope mirrorless situation eventually improves to the point where I can make the switch should I want to.

While I'm willing to accept everyone's opinion just know that that reviewer is a hardcore sony hater. Best to read and watch review videos from multiple sources before making your own decisions.

Yes the a9 only has a 5 fps mechanical shutter but it can do 20 fps with electronic shutter with blackout free shooting. You will not be seeing what you just shot. It will be seemless unlike on a dslr where there's still a few miliseconds of blackout as the mirror moves out of the way. However if you shoot a lot of studio with flash and need high fps then it probably isn't for you. The a7iii does double it to 10 fps if that's what you need.

I can't even imagine what would be possible in just another year or two at the rate we're moving.

I've tried looking up youtube videos focusing on viewfinder lag when continuously shooting and panning, and that one was pretty much the only one that came up. It seems that nobody cares about it, which I find strange... If you can link any videos showing seemless panning while continuously shooting, I'd appreciate it a lot.

I like following Jason Lanier, he used to shoot Nikkon (IIRC) but is a reletively recent convert to Sony mirrorless. Some may even say he's a bit fanboish, however he does a lot of realworld shoots and I've learned a lot just by following what he's doing.

EDIT: Maybe he used to shoot Cannon... I really need a coffee.

He does come off as a little arrogant but I like his style of shooting. I really don't get all the hate he gets. He's sponsored by Sony so of course he's going to pitch their products. There's even some that hate his sense of fashion, which has nothing to do at all with photography.
