Well, I decided to make the jump from my old 8 year old 7D to 6D Mark II from the recent Adorama deal. I'm really disappointed with Canon lack of progress and even regression in terms of low ISO dynamic range. I'm also super impressed with what Sony is doing with their mirrorless full frame bodies - they have excellent dynamic range, in body image stabilization, and very good focusing system. Their sensors are just excellent. And then I see videos like this:
And I just can't make the jump to mirrorless just yet. This is a9, a $4000 body from Sony, and the continuous shooting shutter lag is just horrible. You're not seeing what you're shooting, you're seeing the last photo you've taken. Plus their Zeiss lenses are just so much more expensive, Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 is $900, while Canon nifty fifty can be purchased for less than $150.
Having said that, I hope mirrorless situation eventually improves to the point where I can make the switch should I want to.
