Do they run a background check on everyone crossing the border?
No.
And it's not just a DUI, it's any criminal charge I believe.

A shame there's no reliable way of banning someone from ever driving again. Be better if they could say 'you can come in as long as you never attempt to drive a motorized vehicle while you are here'.
No.

Wow some of these are pretty minor.
Is anyone surprised that 'molesting sheep' isn't on that list?
Conviction. But if you lie about charges you may get turned back as well.
That's odd. Don't you have to be pretty much drunk to go into Canada?

We didn't want to ban all Americans.
We appreciate that. It's just interesting which sub-set of Americans you welcome most.
Well well, you're playing with fire posting in here.

Well now, that might make the commute to work a bit more bearable. Seeing as how nearly 1/3 of all drivers in the US have been cited/arrested for a drug, or alcohol offense while driving, at one time, FACT!
OK, I get how careful Canada is about bad behavior and all that, but how do you guys explain Bieber?
I propose a 10 year ban in the Biebs entering the USA -- who's with me? And, if we can't get that past, perhaps President Trump could have him declared a Muslim Mexican and build a wall to keep him out...

Well, I suppose if you have proven you cannot drive while drunk then I suppose they think you can't walk, fly or shit while drunk either.if u have 2 Dui's then you are permanently banned from Canada.
sucks for your vacation
