Ummmm.... Calculus is used in every techinical job out there. Even Finances use a derivative of calculus. Just because everything is automated by computers now doesn't mean it isn't worth knowing, either. But a lot of jobs use it. I.T., unless it deals with graphics does not, but it is a requirement for Predicate Calculus (logics)

Calc was an easy class compared to most of the stuff I have to take. It's basically the back bone to everything else I have to do in school. <------- Mechanical Engineering major

What really helped me get through 2 years of Calc and Diff EQ was to do several 3 foot Bongs before class.

Calculus was so nice and logical; my favourite of the math courses I took. There's way too much other crap in the mathematics field where you just need to feel the 'vibe' to get moving towards an answer. :|

I think calc isn't taught so you can DO the math. It's taught so you can LEARN the math. IMO it helps you learn concepts. You probably won't directly apply the knowledge, but you'll probably indirrectly apply the same method of thinking.

At least that's my take on it.
