Boys.

Girls are easier to handle for the first 10 years or so. But then having a boy would be better.

Not true in my case.

I've got a 4 YO boy and a 3 YO girl and my girl is so much more difficult than my son. We always have to scold her. My son OTOH has been very easy to deal with. Both are great though. Its funny how boys and girls act differently just naturally. We never taught our girl to like dolls and girly things but she was naturally attracted to them whereas my son was always into cars and trains.

Hmm, I guess I could see that.

I have 9 nieces and nephews. In the experience I have gained from my siblings and their kids, I have noticed that boys in my family are terrors early on, then the girls are trouble in their teens. It seems almost universal in my family.

I suppose ultimately its a total crapshoot. Its very possible to end up with a hell raising little girl or a good natured little boy. I guess going with family indicators is a good bet. Part of me just likes the idea of having a son as well.

I know it varies, but most of the older sisters I know made fairly good choices overall. It's the younger sisters that mostly seemed to take 10 years off their fathers lives.
I'm glad you said generally, because for our family it was the exact opposite. Three sons, the oldest BY FAR caused more headaches than numbers 2 or 3, who laid low under the radar not to piss off our parents. I know that in part they did this because they saw what worry/pain 1 caused to the parents, so 2 and 3 didn't want to repeat that.
Yeah it's obviously going to vary from situation to situation. But there's always articles and reports all the time on how birth order generally () correlates with certain attributes.

I'd rather have boys because I've seen what happens around 16 with girls and I definately do not want to go through with that. Maybe a boy and then a girl so that the boy can help me out like others have said with keeping an eye out on the girl.

I'd prefer to have one of each, first a son and then a daughter.

I have no idea what I'd say if she brings home a guy one day. I think I'd only be able to sleep if the only male friends she had were homosexual until she was 25 and she was getting married.

i have one of each, girl 9 and boy 7, and i havent run across any situations where one has been more difficult than the other. theyre both well behaved and havent been into any trouble, other than the normal sibling fighting, and even thats pretty tame.

i got lucky, as i always wanted one of each. there are perspectives and education on life and people that each gender can uniquely give, so one of each was always ideal to me.
