This is more based on the fact that new ideas for games are now coming so few and far between, that you could almost say the market is "stale"

Besides Portal 1/2 and original DA Origins in the past many years I have yet to see a game that has redefined some areas in a Genre. They all just keep going to a similar formula.

Do we need a 100th+ FPS shooter this console Gen?
Or how about another action hack/slash mindless button smashing game?

Personally I have nothing against EA, I judge each game on its own and I have found enough games I enjoy from EA to satisfy me.

Then you're playing the wrong games.

So if I told you that your primary concern at your job was to provide services and/or products, and if you make enough money to buy food, that's just secondary, you'd be alright with that?

My purpose at my job is to do my job and do it well. I should be compensated fairly for doing my job. If I fail to do my job, then I should not get compensated.

Metacritic score for BF3 breakdown

Critics: 61 positive, 1 neutral, 0 negative
Users: 966 positive, 82 neutral, 251 negative

One critic's review reads "For a single player game that's short and painfully linear, you can only admire the atmosphere and visuals. [edit by me: Precisely, the ONLY thing to admire...] MP maps are too small for 64 players..." and gives a 92 score. In other words, who cares about the actual gameplay when it's looks gorgeous! So please, spare me the "EA makes critically acclaimed" BS. The gamers that decry EA know enough to look past critics that are little more than industry shills.

This goes without saying. Anyone who isn't retarded looks past reviews that are easily purchased. We see the same crap with reviews for cars, computers, pens, printers, etc.

EA are just very good at feeding on the sheep, it's sad that gaming has dropped to this level honestly, but where there are sheep there will be wolves so in some way I expect to see the "EA's" of the world, they're an inevitability.
The good news is that sheep are good for the gaming economy. Buying all these games and accessories means consoles can be sold at a loss. If left up to hardcore gamers, the Xbox 360 would be $700 (random number). Actually that is what game consoles in the cost were worth. If you scale for 20 years of inflation, a game system in 1992 is hella expensive.

I loathe EA for releasing the same franchise game every single year (sometimes twice a year!) as a full-priced game e.g. FIFA (apparently one of this year’s FIFA’s is actually a proper game but I don’t know as I had to stop supporting that horrendous anti-customer tactic after about FIFA version 20.1 or whatever it was. I loathe EA for what they did to Need For Speed. Also, the one time I tried their “customer service” it was useless, Valve have been much better in this regard (with far less resources than EA).

EA=Electronic Arts published the STRIKE series(Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Urban Strike, Soviet Strike, Nuclear Strike) back in the day. This is why I cannot be angry at them.

Yes, they butchered Command and Conquer, and many other games, but who's fault is it? Where did Westwood mess up that caused it's demise and purchase by EA?

Lets admit one thing... Tiberian Sun was a mediocre game compared to it's predscessors. Note, I said COMPARED. It was still a great game in it's own right, but it should have been released about 5 years before when it was actually released. When it came out, there were already much better looking RTS game out there. No wonder Westwood ran into issues after Tiberian Sun's release.

People need to understand one thing.. If you bought a friends barbershop, and you killed the business your friend worked hard for many years to build from the ground, the customers shouldnt just be angry at you. They should also be angry at your friend for giving up on his business. If he never sold it to you in the 1st place, if he never ran into financial problems that caused him to sell, or became greedy wanting to move up with the money from sale of the shop, everything would have remained as it was!

EA bought all these other guys and ruined their games... Well.. It was their right to do so. They BOUGHT all the rights. So as far as gamers are concerned, all these games and companied are DEAD. If any of the EA made sequels happened to be good, that is a huge bonus... A streak of luck... or whatever.

Yes, EA is a disgusting, greedy company now... But they did make Deadspace and Dragon Age Origins 1.

If you have to ask why many people dislike EA then you need to do more research about how things work in the corporate world more so EAs business practices because I for one take my rights and freedoms of privacy and anonymity very very serious.

My biggest beef started when they bought the NFL rights to player's name. This in itself was a way to eliminate anyone else from making a good football game. With out the big names every other developer will fail on this alone and with out any competition there is no incentive for EA to make a better game.

EA seems to piss off people one way or anther either by eliminating IPs, DRM, or calling steam's way of selling games "cheap". EA will get their ass handed to them if they think they can just sell games with out any sales.

No they wont for look how many sheep bought Crysis 2 and BF3 even after EA told Steam to fuck right off and pulled there games from the Steam catalog. Origins is just one step closer to people unwittingly giving/signing away there rights to anonymity and to personal securities.

Because people have a emotional attachment to games and having a 'bad guy' gives them someone to blame and something to talk about. Now that the ball's rolling it's uncool to form any sort of objective opinion so everything they do, good or bad, is portrayed negatively.

Because so many people are unaware to how the world works and more so how Corporate America and more specific to this topic at hand how "Marketing" works EA has the upper hand for they are a big fish in a small pond of unwitting consumers.

This is true with today's society in so many reguards.

I personally, like to chose the other and make objective opinions. Even games I find a lot of fun, I am willing to speak out what issues it has. Or even the good points of games I do not like.

And then again, I also don't go into games having any expectations, as it seems is a major issue with new games today. People have such high expectations of sequels/remakes that when it doesn't reach it, they immediatly form a bad opinion on it.

EA Hate's origins can be immediately traced to their horrible treatment of their productive employees. What is a productive EA employee, you ask. Well, a productive EA employee would be the people that actually make the games so their bosses can get rich off of it. Much like the rest of this country the guys who actually do the work were asked to work insane hours for mediocre salaries and, rightfully so, they sued EA eventually and thus EA Hate was born.

Knowing this it is easy to postulate that EA Hate is not really hatred for EA but more a general hatred for the American corporate environment, of which EA became the posterchild for tech types like all of us. This is all public record at this point so feel free to bone up on your gaming history before you start supporting EA because they are the garbage they've been painted to be.

The sad thing about EA is that they are not doing that great either in the business side of things. Companies like MSFT or APPL could ignore all criticism (for the foreseeable future) and still swim in their pile of cash that will get bigger each quarter.

EA, on the other hand, has not been well.
According to the financials data I got Google Finance, their annual net income is :
(in million of dollars)
2008: -1088
2009: -686
2010: -312
2011: 76

Their stock price used to hover around 55-65 dollar range back in 2003-2008 but it has now plummeted to 12.67 dollar.
Such a bad rep from gamers is just the icing on the cake. If they are not careful, they could turn into the Blackberry of gaming publisher.

Annual net income understated due to large acquisitions, it [and many others] is still recovering/rebalancing from spring 2009 crash, about 9/10 stock analysts consider EA a "Buy" or a "Hold" and the stock is widely considered to be undervalued.

Hey look, EA being dicks again and squatting on IP and not doing anything with it.

On January 9, 2006, GameSpot reported that Electronic Arts had renewed its trademark protection on the System Shock name,[66] leading to speculation that System Shock 3 might be under development.[67] Three days later, Computer and Video Games reported a reliable source had come forward and confirmed the title's production. Electronic Arts UK made no comment when confronted with the information.[68] PC Gamer UK expanded these rumors further, stating the team behind The Godfather was charged with its creation.[69] Ken Levine, when asked whether he would helm a third installment, replied "that question is completely out of my hands."[70] He expressed optimism at the prospect of System Shock 3,[71] but was also very critical of Electronic Arts' attitude towards development of the game.[72][73] As of June 2012, nothing conclusive has been reported regarding the status of the purported project.[74] EA also quashed effort to remake System Shock 2 by community.

If there is ever a SS3, it will be ruined and turned into a CoD/BF button mashing game just watch. Then it will be canned and never see the light of day because it won't sell billions, all because they screwed with it and removed what made it good in the first place, and they will wonder why?

How the hell did EA even get it's grubby hands on the System Shock name to begin with? Damn locusts.

EA = UFC : they only appear to be big and popular because they buy up and silence everyone else.

If EA and Activision ever merged, gaming is gone forever. Just buy up everyone else to stop any other games coming out, then feed you your monthly dose of CoD DLC.

Their Origin delivery system is flawed with too many problems (took 4 downloads of ME2 along with hacking the files on the 4th download to finally get it to work). I would be fine if they sold their games with Steam which is more stable for dl games.

EA is so bad that $9 was too much for Dragon 1&2 WITH Origin.
