IIS shuts computer down

I have been attempting to run IIS (webserver) on my computer. I had this working recently like a charm on my MSI PRO-2a, but I kept getting pop-ups that said webserver failed to start. So I uninstalled IIS and downloaded Apache. Worked for about a week and it started doing the same thing along with reboots out of the blue. I read that a lot of people were having trouble with PRO-2a's and IRQ is not equal errors and it dawned on me that I was having the same problems. I called my vendor and told them and they sent out a new MB (MSI turbo lite). I just got it going and it's doing the same thing. Before I sent the MB back I replaced everything (nic, HD, RAM, PSU) in the computer. Right now I have a fresh install of W2K with no other software installed. I just installed IIS and when I went to start the IIS manager, it rebooted. Any suggestions? Thanks,

G

It's a security feature, IIS is bad for your health =)

But really I doubt it's directly related to IIS, more than likely a sh!tty driver or something.

Well, find out what is crapping out on you. Why don't you disable the auto reboot feature and see what your BSOD tells you? These are really helpfull things and you can usually search MS Technet or Google (believe it or not) for some kind of clue what is dying on you.

What OS are you running?

I'm using W2K Pro. I was getting the IRQ is than or equal. Something to that effect. I'm sure it's probably a driver issue, but why would it target IIS? This computer is just for file sharing, a small bit of FTP (BP-FTP) and some small web serveing. I'm not trying to run a huge site, just something friends and family can check out from time to time. It's been serving MP3s fine for the last four hours without a hickup. Thanks again for all your help,

IRQ less or not equal is a driver issue. I would check the drivers for your hardware. Might also make sure you are at SP2 also.

Is there a way to find out what driver is causing the problem? I have the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers, a driver for the network card, a TNT M64 card. I think the TNT2 drivers are the ones from Microsoft. I guess I could install new ones for it and see if that helps. Thanks again for your help,

Run a bare-bones system for a while (just the mobo and videocard). If it's stable, start adding components one by one until it becomes unstable again.

Well I have an update. I reinstalled the drivers for the video card and loaded IIS. It has been running fine for a while. I then installed Norton 2001 and rebooted. When it can back up it started a full scan. About 15% into it, I got a BSOD with

STOP 0x00000050

Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area

I read on MS that this is probably some problem with the memory. I uninstalled the Norton 2001 and dled a trial version of Norton 2002. Same thing. As I was writing this I got another BSOD with IRQ less or not equal for for a NDIS.sys.

I think I will switch out the TNT2 for a GF2 pro I have in my main computer. Keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks

G
