To my surprise the Ikea kitchen cabinets got rated highly by Consumer Reports this month.

Ikea carries some really good stuff, some real junk. I really like the "as is" section - some great buys. I've been furnishing my apt. from there, nice low prices.

Shaumburg's not that far away. My Entertainment center is from Ikea. Fits the 42" plasma nicely.

When we go down there we always shop till they close and then eat at Bernelli's. Mmmm, it's been awhile since we have gone, I think this thread has inspired a road trip.

Yeah that's the closets one but it's about 2 hrs from here. I've only been there once (or maybe twice) but we got a big shelving unit and some Video storage cabinets. Everyone looks and works great.

Can't stand the place. It's way too "Brave New World" for me. Everybody's happy, everybody's shopping, everybody is driven along the predetermined little path that forces you to walk through the whole bloody store except for very few specially designated shortcuts. I get nauseated from being in Ikea.

The warehouse area is OK, but it's not worth having to go through the rest of the store.

IKEA has food? dammit, I was at a magic tourney (grand prix) in NJ 2 weekends ago and starving with no place nearby for food (except this over priced snack bar with a line a bajillion miles long), but the convention center was next to an IKEA.

Live and learn.

Those poontang chairs are definitely not worth camping out for 2 days for. I thought they were only $80, did the free ones come with a footrest or something?

Is this one easier to get to than the one in Conshohoken, or did you just go because it was the grand opening?

We have one coming to the ATL sometime in 2005.

true but you won't find better unless you are willing to pay a lot more

I agree on some sutff, not everything. A lot of their stuff is solid wood. You definitely won't find anything better for the money.

LOL you never went in backwards ? Go from the register area to the warehouse ... that'll teach them! (we do it all the time).

Ikea shoppers flock in from all areas... on weekends the lot is ridiculous as it shares from part of a mall... what a mess.

I wish we had one in san antonio.

There's this neat alarm clock that you can record your own alarm ring to. But it's only available in the ikea stores and not online ;_;

Ikea furniture sucks. Both things I bought there are flimsy and cheesy. Target furniture is better, IMO.
Ikea is good for wood hangers, glasses, dishes, and miscellaneous small items. I got an $15 rug there that is pretty good.

Easier to get to from South Jersey at least. I just took 295 south then went over the Walt Whitman and its right there.

ikea is good, but its best to let them do the assembly

i set up my tromso bed . . . the instructions weren't all that great (they need TEXT in there) the material is weak, and very flimsy . . .

practically everything in my room (NOW, changing it in about a week) is from ikea, from the bed, to the desk, to the printer table, to a desk light, to a trash can . . . but i've learned to only go to ikea for smaller stuff, not beds or desks

there used to be one in Industry, but they moved it to Covina . . . but then I moved and Burbank was closer . . .

I've been to the one in Paramus. Nice store with all kinds of nifty stuff. I usually get the swedish meatballs when I am there.

I went to the Ikea in College Park, MD when I visited my sister. I liked the place. They recently opened on e in New Haven, CT. Planning to go there sometime next week.

totally not true on the target furniture. i've looked at and bought some of each, and target furniture is truely cheesy. cheesy manuals, cheesy packaging, cheesy quality control. ikea atleast has decent and consistently made cheap furniture, with decent false veneers, the target/walmart ones look really bad. the engineering/design of the ikea ones are generally superior to boot. clear instructions and decent fasteners make building easy. for what u pay, it looks decent and works well enough. and some of the stuff is real wood, i have 3 pieces in my room that are real wood. even the sides/back of the dresser drawers are real wood. a place where sometimes u get chipboard.

I heard two proposed spots: One in W.Sac and one in Truxel. Either way, less than 5 minute drive for me.

Tied by the full breakfast w/coffee for 1.99 (2.11 plus tax, I get it a lot). However, the truly best thing is their family meal deal for $10, two full adult meatball meals and two (or more?) kid meals. Heck of a dinner deal. I've gotten it with friends and no kids, and nobody's ever said anything. And you get these little toys with the kids meal, too. Paramus, no ads, it's not on the menu, but there was a sign once and I keep asking if they still have it. So far so good. Ask for it.

There's one down the road... going there in an hour for 2 picture frames, some small nick nacks for the kitchen and a set of drawers for my desk. Best place to get all that stuff.
