sorry Azraele, this should have been explained. there was a thread that ILikeSprite started last night talking about saying goodbye to everyone. Gopunk took the inititive and called up his ISP to get him some help. the last we heard was that the PD and FD of his town was at his house with him....

Ok.. so you called the ISP, and told them some 15 year old kid... is trying to axe himself.. and they contacted the authorities.. fvck any ISP that does that. in my view, they have no right. (unless of course its in their legal agreement.. in which case I would never sign it..

While you may not always agree with what is posted here, there are times when it's appropriate to make your opinion known & there are times when it's appropriate to keep your f'ing mouth shut & look the other way. Sometimes saying nothing is the wiser choice, as you obviously have nothing of any value to add.

Sorry, I'm late to what's been going on. I probably only read under a quarter of the threads here, so I'm playing catch up.

I must take issue with this statement and offer a correction. It looks like he got the attention he needed.

Life can seem tough at 15, much worse than what it is. I'm glad someone (gopunk, everyone else) was there for him.

Amen Viper. It is best to stay quiet and look foolish than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

DaZ, I'm sure glad everyone in this world doesn't think like you. Some of you people who think you are above it all, suddenly go gasping for air, when a real problem arises in your life. Maybe it is you who needs such a lesson first hand.
People who have mental illness, temporary or permanent, don't plan to have that happen. It can be something, over which one has no control.

BTW, most of the people I have met in life, who are uncompassionate, usually are emotionally bankrupt, substance abusers, who feel nothing, except hate for themselves, so are not capable of giving anything but hate back.

gopunk, you did what your conscience told you needed to be done. Who cares what anyone else thinks....at least you can sleep at night.

let me just say that it's somewhat disturbing to see how some of you people think.

I agree! :Q You should be ashamed of yourselves!

What if someone posted something like, "Having a heart attack"? Would you say that "doesen't belong in a public forum" also? Christ..

Gopunk I congratulate you. What you did is commendable.
Has ot the others who don't give a sh!t about life. I say this

WHO GIVES A DAMN IF ABOUT THIS FORUM WHEN IT COMES TO HUMAN LIFE! A person in need was saved from himself. This is not the first time this has happened either, nor will it be the last.

And those that have been help before where very grateful for the members that helped.

Sometimes I think some of you have stone for hearts and sh.. for brians. :|

i wonder why the mods decided to delete ilikesprite's original thread

Just because someone is a mod, does not make them a caring person, infact, there could be a mod just as insensive a jerk, as some who have posted here, is one angle. The other angle might be that they didn't want it to turn into something ugly, or to later find out it was a hoax.

What if he didn't have any friends to turn to?

No kidding!
Good or bad, right or wrong, for SOME people this may BE their life. Or it may at least seem that way to them.

Did it not cross your mind that the type of person that would think life is so bad that they would want to end it might be the same type of person that doesn't make friends easily. Maybe the people he feels closest to are the guys and gals on here! They can't easily judge someone by how they look, unlike the "REAL" word.
People on here (for the most part) judge a person by what they say, and how they behave on here, and how helpful they are to their fellows.
I only wish people in "The Real Word" could be like a large percentage of the people on here!

Several years ago my best friend took his life.
A day or so before he did it he came around to spend time with me, and my girl friend at the time didn't like him so I sent him away. As it turned out he was going around visiting ALL of his friends and saying good-by in his own way.

For the longest time I felt terrible about not being there for him. Part of me thought maybe I could have stopped him if I had just spent some time with him that day. Of course I'm sure I couldn't have, I wouldn't have even know what he had planned to do. But I still wish I could have spent just a bit more time with him before he left.

Personally I think it's GREAT that anyone could feel close enough to people on here that they would want to share their feelings and their troubles with them!!
And I hope that we as a community when called upon to help a FRIEND can BE a friend and help.....................

Thats good that he sounds well and everything. My brother had to be in one of those, they are pretty freaky. The kid he was roomed with pissed on everything everywhere, a bunch of whackjobs in there. No wonder he wants to get out

hm interesting. i thought it was potentially a hoax, then again you never know there have been jerkoffs that have posted false things in the past. but then again it could always be a cry for help. ah the confusion

there was a bit too much backslapping in the thread though.

I can't belive some people on this board are willing to sacrifice this 15 yr old's life... Red Dawn, if the original thread had actually been deleted because the moderators listened to your cold, fvcked up comments, you probably could've lead to his death. In times like this, know when to shut up.

Agreed. However, don't most people that actually commit the act of suicide do it without much warning? In other words, they DON'T draw attention to themselves? I don't know. I'm not a psychoanalyst. Just a thought.

You know, I don't always agree with all the decisions the mods make around here but I do believe that they make choices based on the best interests of this community,if that thread was deleted they must have had good reason for making that decision.Instead of everybody getting all up in arm's about it, why not all take a step back, consider that possibility and be supportive of it ?

Also, consider this, if indeed this young person was serious and is now getting help, when he's feeling better he will at least not have the shame of knowing that thread is sitting around here to remind him
of blacker days .

It's my understanding that most people that do it give more than ample warning beforehand... people just ignore it.

I can't second guess ILikeSprite's motives, but to me it feels like he was looking for attention. He posted a "goodbye" thread, and then hung around to post once or twice more on it. Would he have killed himself? I don't know.. but one would think that if he truly wanted to, he would simply have said goodbye and then gone and done it.

So yes, in my opinion, he was looking for attention; but I think he was doing so in the only outlet he felt he had. A cry for help is a cry for help, and Gopunk and the others did the right thing in contacting the authorities. I don't think cold and heartless comments are called for here; the guy's only 15, fer chrissakes..
