Apple might have the edge. http://www.apple.com The hardware is good. The software is good. And it all just looks so damn cool. I'm thinking that someday (when I have the money) I might make the migration to Macintosh. Or... If Windows becomes more stable and someone starts making versatile cool looking PC parts, i.e. monitors, mice, keyboards, and cases I will definitely stick with a PC. As it is though... I only need to find replacements for a couple of programs, and I will definitely make the transition to Macintosh. I am a die-hard PC fan, but my purposes have changed over time, and oddly enough, a Macintosh is starting to look more like a viable prospect than another PC. And no one in here can deny that the G4 Cube is hardcore. No one.

I don't really care, once that I can use Linux, I will use it... since it doesn't work on my p83, I have to use win9x. I'm not using a Mac, too expensive, I have no money, the OS sucks, not upgradeable, tweakable, etc..

uhhhhh macs suck for like everyting other than photoshop and other digital editing stuff. IMO, they are ugly as a cows ass, and they arent that fast. MHz for MHz, they beat any x86 stuff, but x86 has twice the MHz under the belt. go to a mac if ya want no one is stoping you but they dont have the edge. macs are hyped like crasy. i once hered someone say on the radio (the biggest radio staton in the country i might add, WGN here in chicago) that the SMP 500 mac is twice as fast as the single proc mac.. what a load of crap.

do what u want, no one is stoping you but i dont think i will ever buy a mac, if the state of hardware (mac vs PC) stays as it is now.

hehe just kidding.......but macs suck, and that latest cube crap didn't help much IMO....and it is NOT hardcore. The most people here will agree with me when I say, that the more customisable a computer is, the better. I love taking a look into my PC case and seeing all the components and wires, and I'd rather die than having that cube.....

Edge? Don't think so. Hardware? What, that lame ass cube, or their "revolutionary" SMP? Please. Unless you're gonna run Linux(which Jobs won't support), you can't even use it. Software is good? What, the OS? No...that's worse then Windows. The games? Nope, there are none. Photoshop? I'll give you that, but whoopdeesh@t, you can get it for the PC for a little less speed. Wow.

OK... That post, I won't deny, was based on an overall buildup of anti-PC rage I have been having. Little things I want to do to Windows, but can't, the crashes, hardware failure and of course the horrible beige box syndrome. Now that I think about it, the Mac's I have used were worse than most of the PCs I've ever used. My uses do involve video, audio, and graphical editing so perhaps a Macintosh wood be a better alternative, for me. Of course, half of the software I use is incompatible with Macintosh so never mind. I still really really like Macintosh cases. Yes. I am one of those people who loves the Volkswagen Beetle commercials. It's just my style. And style is subjective so, whatever.

That G4 cube is amazing, I agree.

I thought it was a lot larger until I saw the picture they have here:

Amazing. I'd want one just to show off You know... that cube would be awesome as a small Linux server for my webhosting and such.

i just took a look at that cube.. that has got to be the dumbest thing i have seen in my entire life, it is not even that small! i think ars did a review on some expreso PC thing a wile back, it was the size of a palm piolet and had a C 533 i it.. if i rembember right.
oh yea, and apple was bragging because they got rid if thoes encridibly stupid hockey pucks and finaly got human sized keyboards.. not tiny cramped laptop style POS's. whatever.. i think someone should go beat the crap out of jobs for what he is telling people.. yea the first publicky avalable SMP box.. whatever. maby we all can get a class action law sute agenst apple for false advertising ro something, i am sure DIGITAL computers had a SMP box back in the day
