I like how you thoroughly examined my whole argument...

No I get it, immigration laws are racist and should be abolished...well they started out as racist, now they're sort of neutral but should still be abolished. That about cover it?

fixed

soon i hope.

there where no stupid laws back then.

Maybe my history is a bit off (prob more than a bit) but there were a lot of battles that led up to this land being conquered by it's "immigrants". That's a huge difference than what keeps being implied; the idea that a bunch of immigrants showed up and wouldn't leave.

I don't have a problem with ponzi schemes. This country's entire economy is a ponzi scheme :^D

As long as people are aware they're gambling, I'm ok with it.

Crap. as I agree that the whole thing is a ponzi scheme after you pointed it out, I should have used a better example.

Well it was a pretty damn close analogy wasn't it? At least an improvement over the original...

Blah blah blah. Laws created by racists who have forgotten how and why (or don't care) the USA was created. All our founding documents say that illegal laws are void ab initio. So someone argued and convinced racists that their racist ways are compatible with our founding documents. Many are easily fooled. This place is for ANYBODY to come and WORK. This country is supposed to be a role model for freedom and a haven from oppression.

As I said earlier, get rid of welfare entirely, then we can talk about ANYBODY coming here to WORK.

The blood from your bleeding heart is getting in your eyes.

Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "No! I like it here.

It's better than my house. I've made all
the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry
and swept the floors. I've
done all the things you don't
like to do. I'm hard-working
and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house

You are Required to feed me
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family
(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT to be there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have
a nicer house than I do, and I'm just
trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working
and honest, person, except for well,
you know, I did break into your house
And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of cold,
uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn
MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can
communicate with me.

Or...maybe more accurate for some of the hippies here:

Suppose I am walking by your house. It looks nice and there seem to be no locks on the door or large dogs in the yard. I decide that I would like to live there, so I just walk on in and set up a nice cozy spot in a spare bedroom. I am hungry so I decide that I wll go to see what is in your fridge. After seeing nothing but tofu and wheat germ, I discover your credit card on the table. I help myself to it and one of your resuable hemp shopping bags. My shoes are worn out so I slip into your Birkenstocks and trot off to the Safeway and do a little shopping on your dime. When you return home from work you discover me sitting on your couch. You would like me to leave but you get no assistance from the authorities. Soon, I bring my wife to live there with me. After awhile we have a couple of kids. I work but I send all my money to my brother in Tacoma and contribute very little to the household. After many years of this you are fed up and beg the authorities to help you get rid of me. They come and kick me out, but a few days later I return again. This cycle is repeated for years. You kind of get used to me but would like it if I went through the steps to legally purchase my own home. A new mayor is elected and decides that even if you do somehow get me to move out, my children can stay with you as long as they want without any legal ramifications.

They are. This is the home of all illegals everywhere. Doesn't anyone here understand that the United States of America is not a place, it is an idea; it is an idea for everyone.

I'll be sure to tell the IRS that.

You can't tax me man! This is a country of freedom not oppression! It's not a place, it's an idea!

LOL, you sound ridiculous.

Parent(s) did bad deed. Check.

Happend year(s) ago. Check.

Kid(s) did not do it, at least knowingly or claim to be innocent. Check.

Kids(s) suffer the consequence. Check.

Kid in story is cute. Check. Are you?

I keep waiting for someone to throw out this bullshit:

"With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
"

After all, it's on the Statue of Liberty...it MUST be the law...

Well, it could also be a shell game. I suppose it comes down to exactly how you define it :^)

Almost all analogies will fail in the case of immigration, or at least for this particular case. Possessions, and lifestyles are trivialities when compared to life itself. That girl's American in every sense other than paperwork. There's better solutions than giving her a big fuck you, and a locked door. We do it every day for people who are technically American, but have put less work into life than this girl has in 10 years.

Shes kind of hot. She can easily find some horny 32 year old guy in Canada to live with. Canada is almost as good as we are, but they aren't as free as us so we are still better. Thats why this chick feels like the world outside of the US is a prison.

No...she's a Mexican citizen who was raised (illegally) in the US of A. She is NOT an American...and is not eligible for any special favors or breaks in the law.

That's the problem, but they aren't mine, I just borrowed them from the people who made the nation you claim to love, but clearly do not understand at all.

Anyway I've said my piece. Believe what you will at your own peril.

The people who founded this country didn't write those famous documents from the living rooms of their Section 8 housing while snacking on food they bought with their food stamps paid for by hardworking farmers and blacksmiths of the time.

Yea, but it severely affects the girl who is an innocent third party. If they caught them when the girl was 6, I wouldn't have an issue with it. Removing someone from the only life they've known isn't right, and can't be justified outside of interpreting law books.
Open the flood gates and set a precedent for many others.

Once the existing LEGAL queues are empty; then feel sorry for the ILLEGALS.

What makes an American? I see people elected/appointed, I'd shoot for treason. Papers and laws don't make an American. Not any kind of American I believe in anyway.

Put them on sailing ships and send them back to Africa?

I'm fine with that...(the ghetto rats who are just drags on society...not ALL persons of African heritage...MOST are good hard-working people...who deserve the protections of the 14th Amendment...and the 14th Amendment needs to be clarified to eliminate its use as the "Anchor Baby" provision)

I totally agree that the immigration laws here need a desperate overhaul. I just don't agree because this girl has lived here for ten years we should just go "OK, you're an American. You've lived here long enough to qualify."

What makes an American? I see people elected/appointed, I'd shoot for treason. Papers and laws don't make an American. Not any kind of American I believe in anyway.

That's exactly what makes an American. We're all human beings. There's nothing different about us except our paperwork and laws.

How is this thread not in P&N?

I have a compromise - she's getting good grades in school, she has learned English. She's trying to not be a leach on society. If she remained in the U.S., she seems destined toward having a decent career. I say we allow her back, and we have a lottery of able-to-work people who have been milking the welfare system, and we send one of THEM back to Mexico in her place.

Totally awesome idea!!!
