Illinois gas prices

The State of Illinois has filed suit against Caseys for increasing the price of gas last Tuesday from 1.68 per gallon to 5.00 per gallon. Caseys Corporate Office claims the increase was a result of "local" stations in a panic move and the increase was not ordered by the Corporate Office. Illinois also introduced a toll free number to report price irregularities. In addition to the toll free number, Illinois has added an additional 17 field agents to check pumps, and to monitor prices. Go Illini!!!!

LOL! it happened in Missouri too! The MO Sate Attorney General apparently had over 100 calls on casey's stores alone! He plans to prosecute for price gouging and once again, Casey's Corporate is saying all blame is on specific store and managers NOT on them as they do not dictate prices..........

I believe the State of Iowa is doing the same against Casey's here too. From what I've heard all Casey's stores raised their gas prices to at least $4.00 a gallon. I know just in the City of Davenport there have been more than a thousand complaints about Casey's gas prices. I believe the fine (in Iowa) for price gouging is somewhere around $50,000 PER INCIDENT! I wouldn't feel bad if they got slapped with a huge fine. My wife worked at a Casey's a couple of years ago and was consistenly treated like sh!t on the job.

Choralone: Isn't Casey's corporate based in Iowa???? I have a friend from Washington <edit>Iowa<edit> whom moved to Columbia MO and opened about 5 stores......he's since sold them all, but, he always told me they originated there......

Yeah I do believe it is based in Iowa. Lucky there's no Casey's in Iowa City so none of the station around here raise prices.

Damn 1.68 to 5.00? Go Illini is right! I am rooting out the local owners of our gas stations where I live. They only increased the gas about 12 cents per gallon. Of course this was within hours of the terrorist attack. 12 cents is enough to piss me off.

The American petroleum institute said last tuesday that there would be absolutely no interuption is supplies. Also Exxon and BP said stations should not raise the price of gas 1 cent from the day before.

Casey's main headquarters is in Des Moines, Iowa.
