What's going on in Illinois this year? Any residents of illinois post here and shed some light?

16 officers hit this year alone, 3 dead? This seems unusually high for any state at this point.

In my state of MA, we also have the "move over" law. It's rare I see someone ignore it, and very frustrating when someone does. Those people working our roadways really put their lives on the line sometimes.

We also have move over laws, but I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for not following them. In general, it seems about 50/50 for people that move over when there's someone stopped in the shoulder.

This one was a head on crash from someone going the wrong way at 3:30AM. All signs point to drunk driver. As for others, people are as distracted and oblivious as ever now. Phones, touch screen dashes, ect. Drivers just flat out suck. Not sure there's anything specific IL other than bad luck. People drive like shit in every state in my experience.

Yeah, I found that a bit odd. I think it was more to link the other deaths where it seemed to play a part.

I would like to see a study done concerning the strobe lights on emergency vehicles. The mesmerizing effect makes it hard to concentrate and I always avert my gaze when passing these scenes. Drivers under the influence might be seduced into driving towards the lights.
