For those without photoshop, just print out the picture and then cut it up so that you can manually place A next to B to prove they're the same color.
I've seen demonstrations of this opitcal illusion before but this one is the best by far because there was such a large illusionary difference in birghtness between A & B.

The easiest way to explain it is the surround colors fool your eye. I used Red to cover up some of the surrounding squares and make it all one color. I'm thinking because mainly different shades of grey are being shot at you, you're eye thinks they are different colors.
