I don't do any graphic editing or anything that requires precise color replication.

It's mostly homework, programming, web browsing, etc. Basically I don't think I would get my moneys worth out of a nicer dell monitor.

$100 for an LED backlit 22"
$120 for a 24"

I doubt these will get any cheaper anytime soon.

[edit] And I'm actually considering the 24"s again. I have my 23"s along side my 22"s here and it's actually a bit of a difference.

Ah, did realize that it was $100 for the 22", that's a pretty nice deal for a monitor of that size, especially a slim one. I have 2 [edit] 3[/edit] $25 off of $100 staples coupons that expire around the 12th, so if you want them you are welcome to have them.

Personally I'd go for the 22", its the same resolution, and with 4 monitors, it isn't like you'll be lacking the screen real estate department. Also less energy usage
What arrangement will they be in? 2x2, 1x4?

Yeah, I follow SlickDeals and this is where these monitor deals are from. If I decide to order those coupons would probably be useful, I was planning on just buying them from the usual e-junkie source.

The other problem with the 22" is that they do not have standard VESA mounting. The mounting holes are also on the bottom of the stand that folds back--this seems kind of odd to me. If I ordered these I would need to create my own quad stand I think.

Because they're shitty TN panels and so are all the rest of your monitors. Enjoy your suck.

Not a fan of AOC, or Acer for that matter.

You'll probably have your best luck selling your old monitors on CL.

I'd also opt for 24" ... 21.5" is too small imo, in a 2 set up, or a 2x2.

I've played one game of starcraft in the past month. End of semester is busy.

I'm still trying to figure out the deal with these monitors. In the picture above, the three in the chair and the one in the very front are all AOC 24s. Apparently they were shipped in two batches where one model has excellent reviews where as the other batch is getting awful reviews.

Awful as in, "this monitor is completely unusable", or "this monitor isn't even worth $110."

I have 4 monitors from the "bad" batch. It looks completely fine to me and I can't figure out what everyone else is talking about. My quad stand comes in today so I'll open up the other three to test their quality.

The only reason I can think of to have 3 of the same monitor is for triple headed gaming. For that, your GTS250 is not gonna cut it, and you probably would want a mobo that supports crossfire since you'll most likely want at least 2 video cards to push 3240x1920 resulotion.
Also, you may be better off getting monitors that can handle 1920x1200 instead of 1920x1080 for triple headed gaming, as it will make the overall aspect ratio closer to that of a normal widescreen monitor...

Your CPU should be OK, and DDR2 is fine for Ram. Also, I would really consider a new drive, I have had SHIT luck with 7200.12 drives, lost 3/3 1.5TB drives, and had a 1TB fail on me too...

I use the extra monitors for productivity tasks. So I can have e-mail, web browsers, widgets, code, w/e available without changing windows.

No interest in gaming on them.

In that case get the monitors and put your old ones above them, and get yourself maybe a couple of USB to video adaptors or a cheapo second video card with 2 more outputs .. and go all out!
